Sounds fucking awesome, frankly.
Well it weren't bad mate. Those early pay parties kept most of the good vibe that was to be found at the free raves of the time. They really were the days before the criminal justice bill. A month prior to that I was off my tits on castlemorton common with 30,000 others. Laughing at the coppers and marvelling at the weirdos.
At least the kids these days don't know what they're missing.

Don’t be so quick to assume - I was out for a Sunday ride a few years back and we heard music (well, beats) coming from the woods in the distance. We followed it for a mile or two and found a big group of teenagers with a full on speaker set up on a trailer with a generator having a rave in a clearing - all off their tits on MDMA at about 10am, all happy as fuck and basically just having a damn good time.
There was even a community support officer lurking off to the side just in case anything “went wrong”, but with no intentions of stopping it or anything. It was great!

WAY back in the day, must have been '96 or so, a mate of mine organised a big fucking party in a field with DJs and so on - couldn't call it a rave obvs. Local coppers were there throughout, not giving a fvck apart from making sure no-one died. Awesome - just how it should be. If people want to get munted, just let them, they're going to anyway.
edit - in fact, thinking about it, my mate had invited them there way in advance. Masterstroke really.

Sounds great. Good luck to them.
You wouldn't want me at one these days due to the fact that I've turned into a grumpy old cunt that points out what everyone else is doing wrong all the time.
Every dog has his day though I guess

Got to also add myself to that group of ravers. We were lucky that Sheffield at the time (91) had some superb nights which we went to after doing the quarry parties organised by Smokescreen

Bit of a difference of dress code

Aye my mate's little brother spends most of his weekends at after hours parties off his face on MDMA and Ketamine

.
I can't remember my 18th, which probably means it was good. Being a teenager and my early twenties are pretty a blank space for me these days.

Being born in June was a bit crap for big nights out.
Had a couple of GCSEs on my 16th and an A-level on the morning of my 18th. Think it was my last one though as my mate came round afterwards with a Chinese for lunch before out into Norwich and got smashed
Never wore a suit out, but most of the clubs were shirt, no jeans / trainers which was really shite
Pretty sure it was the first day of that years World Cup so may have watched some of that too.

It used to be so easy to drink underage - I had a fake ID that we made and printed on coloured card and laminated with sheets of sticky back plastic! I think it said we worked at a cleaning company or something. It was fucking lame but still worked when needed!
Barely ever a requirement up North in my youth. Under age drinking was easy and most of the landlords knew but weren't fussed. The strippers was a little more strict but we just borrowed someone's driving license.

We all started drinking in the same pub as our dads went to. They were all in the main bar drinking bitter while we were in the pool room drinking Malibu and coke

No one cared that we were 16.

Mine was spent in "The Shambles", a local bar with an obese cross dressing DJ. It was great

So you drank in the same bar as your Dad as well, then?

Did no-one else go to their local sticky-carpet nightclub using free tickets they'd mined the electoral roll for and posted out? Complete with free bottle of 'champagne' for the birthday victim.
Coach trip to Tramps, those were the days ... (they weren't

I've never had a problem being served, I've been over 6 foot since I was 14, I've been asked for ID at more supermarkets than bars

.
Studio 24, The Cas Rock or any one of the Cowgate dives in Edinburgh or a manky hotel not far from where my school was called The Derry. There was The Justinlees not far from school as well, if you went in at lunch time out of uniform you could get a drink as it was full of folk from the college. They were much stricter at night though
