Pretty vague statement from them but it may be a flat 4 range extender type arrangement is what they meant.
Plenty of room for a 2l upfront in a Taycan and I believe Porsche have previously made engines for different application like planes, boats, generators etc
REx is a brilliant idea if the legislation allows them to be treated similarly to BEVs. That's what killed off the i3 Rex here when the rules changed in 2017 to ved and congestion charging etc

84 litres of boot space, all in front of the front axle. Maybe a weedy little range extender, but the cooling, fuelling, extra weight/cost, the sound and all the fun of making sure it’s crash safe etc….? With sales already diminishing and the Taycan no longer being the cool new thing, i can’t see it being worth their while.

I love the look of the Taycan estate, I like the Panamera estate, but the Taycan is just that bit cooler. Maybe if the made the next Panamera look more like the Taycan, I am sure a fair chunk of teh population can barely tell the difference anyway.

The boot on the Taycan wagon is not very big, but since Porsche binned the Panamera wagon there’s no direct petrol alternative sadly.

It saddens me, which is daft, as I could not affird to buy or run one and by the time they drop into my price range, service bills would be crippling.
Still nice though.

The i3 Rex motor and gubbins would fit it there 3 times over albeit it was only 600cc with a 9l fuel tank.

Plundering the VAG they could use the 1.0 3cyl, shrink the battery a bit to fit a fuel tank and balance the weight.
