woah! well that changes everything…
Yes, Mik not going a very good job of describing the various models
If only there was a sausage option.
Or an exige option

So I've obviously owned an S1, and recently had the pleasure of driving a 400 around an airfield.
I genuinely believe a late, NA S1 is perfection. 286bhp is plenty for the road, the suspension is witchcraft and buying a later model means many of the issues have been ironed out over the LE. The interior is nice enough, Recaro seats are brilliant. ECOTY winner, don't forget.
However, the 400 I'd buy for the exhaust alone, plus I do prefer the looks. I absolutely, totally and entirely loved my time with the 400 and do regret not purchasing one. That being said, the interior is a step down in many ways, and the seats aren't as nice. However, it's got 400bhp and sounds awesome so I'd probably soon forget that. Just to clarify, did I mention the noise?
400's/410's are fetching 45k+ right now, and I'm not sure they're worth 20k more than a very nice Evora NA.....so I voted for the S1.

Good to see conclusive current standings with four of the options in equal first place

My day has been made, thank you
I am obliged to vote 400 but I liked every one I got to drive even the long geared original NA S1, the experience wasn't visceral but it is just a beautiful balanced drive.
Sadly GTE is a joke running wheel spacers (or offset wheels maybe?) to fill those wide arches rather than the correct race spec lengthened wishbones iirc*
*It's getting long enough ago it's all a bit hazy.

On no knowledge other than just Miks description and some photos I went for the S1.
You can see the Elise/Europa/Exige lineage, lean and lithe before they start sticking shit on and pumping them up.

I exclude the GTE in account of auto only.
woah! well that changes everything…

Info provided in the vid below should one be interested.
GTE was a failed motorsport project with wide body, 440bhp cossie-fiddled V6, paddle-shift automated manuel boxes, the lovely centrelock wheels (that are on the car pictured on page 1) etc etc.
When that project fell through they reversed engineered them into road cars. Which - in order to maintain a warranty - meant losing the exotic drivetrain, and reverting back to standard series1 S specification (ie V6 with supercharger).
20 road cars were created in total:
7 manuel (2 RHD, 5 LHD)
13 IPS (auto) (6 RHD, 7 LHD)
I think only one was carbon-bodied - I'm now vaguely recalling @Foz mentioning years ago that he knew the bloke who owned it at that time.
I saw one for sale at Murray Lotus in Edinburgh just after the launch of the GT430. The latter looked great to me in the showroom and had (has) a far more interesting spec, but the pumped-up black GTE (that they had sat beside it) took the visualz honors.

Lotus are expected to launch a special edition Emira in the same colours next week. And they’ve used them a number of times before - the Elise S2 had gold Alcantara seats as well as wheels and that looked particularly bad to me.
Not a colour scheme I would buy despite my grandmother’s cigarettes of choice being JPS

@scotta was he called Mark? Owns a pet crem? It looks very like a car (and house) up teh hill in Melrose, just the other side of the Eildons from me.
I like the white one, which may be due t familiarity, but it looks good without overdoing it.
I prefer the Emira, it just looks amazing in the metal, I did not see that option when I voted though!

The jps livery done properly on something retro looks cool. A few random bits of gold on something black because jps many years ago generally looks a bit lame.
