The CORRECT contents of a fry-up are:
# scrambled duck eggs cooked in butter = 3
# streaky bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 6
# link sausages = 3 big butchers ones
# small rib eye = 1
# belly of pork, steamed then oven cooked with a salt top = 1
That will do me till the following day.
Dave!
That’s a mixed grill, not a fry-up
It’s all fried in butter for breakfast, therefore it’s a fry up.
If Vegan pish is allowed, I’m having my steak.
If it was a mixed grill, there would be lamb.
This country is going to the dogs !! A revolution is needed!!
Dave!
Well then I extend my rules - Beans, Tomatoes, Mushrooms AND Steak and Pork Belly have no place on a fry-up.
If I fry a beef patty for breakfast, does my burger become a fry-up ?
Come on man - we have to have some standards here...

Steamed then oven cooked belly of pork is not fried, surely?

I brown it in the butter at the end, I do realise the steaming part marks me out as a raging vegetablist but I feel between friends I can admit that.

No idea what a correct fry up would be as I've probably had about 5 of them in my life. If i'm making breakfast for myself it rarely extends beyond 2 fried eggs, a side of cheese and a slice of extremely thin toast.

The CORRECT contents of a fry-up are:
# fried eggs = 2 or 3
# scrambled eggs portions = 0
# poached eggs = 0
# omlettes = 0
# streaky bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 0
# back bacon rashers (smoked or unsmoked) = 2 or 3
# sqkware sausages = 1 (if in Scotland)
# link sausages = 2 or 3
# Haggis portions = 0
# Black puddings = 1
# White pudding = 0
# potato scones = 0
# hash browns = 2
# potato waffles = 0
# portions of mushrooms = 1
# slices of toast on the plate = 1
# slices of toast on a separate plate/rack = 0
# slices of fried bread (plate or rack) = 0 (I used to like fried bread but now I'm more of a fried protein person)
# uncooked tomatoes = 0
# fried/roasted tomatoes = 0
# portions of beans on the plate = 1
# portions of beans in a separate recepticle = 0
# portions of alphabetti spaghetti (on plate or in a separate recepticle) = 0
# portions of bubble & squeak = 0
# veggie/vegan items mimicking meat-based elements = 0
# portions of minced vegans/vegetarians = 0
# portions of butter = 0
# marmalade portions = 0
# jam portions = 0
# portion/blob/sachet of tomato sauce = 0
# portion/blob/sachet of brown sauce = 1 (large, or decorated over the rest of the items on the plate, not in a blob)

There is no correct mix of contents for a fry up. Stick that on your plate and mop up the bean juice/bacon fat/tommyk/brown sauce with it!
HOWEVER
Any "fry up" which doesn't include at least one fried egg and "some" bacon is not a fry up worth having in my book. They are 2 absolutes for me.

I do think the Scots have an edge as tattie scones, square sausage and haggis are supreme breakfast foods.
Should the bacon be crispy? I feel not but a friend of mine disappeared to America for 6 months and when she came back it was so brittle you would mistake it for crisps.

I have a new found love of streaky bacon. It should be crispy.
Back bacon in a roll should be crispy as I want to eat it all without delving in with my fingers.
Back bacon in a fry up (or otherwise on a plate) should not be crispy, as I can easily cut the fat off.

Cutting the fat off? Streaky bacon? Can't eat a bacon buttie unless it's
crispy?
It's like he's asking to be barred from Scotland.

Firm with brown fat but not crispy is optimum IMO. Definitely don't want stretchy white fat, that's for sure, rather crispy than that.

This guy I follow on instagram cooks the same fry up (and posts it!) every Sunday with only minor variations! Looks pretty nailed on to me, other than he has mustard instead of HP sauce which is quite odd

I'm disappointed nobody has pointed out that omelette is misspelt.
As for the meal in question I'll decide on the day. But no black or white pudding.
I'm with @Sundayjumper on the pancakes. A regular weekend treat here too.
Also coffee is required, and if there's a croissant or pain au raisins, I'll happily have that.

Nah, I'm currently sulking about your blantant pancakeist stance. Agreed they're not a
fry up but your tone was offensive to those of us that are non-breakfast-binary.
Pancakes & maple syrup are a regular weekend treat in this house and I won't hear a bad word against them.
So there.
Pancakes have no place in ANY form of civilised cuisine.

That's because anyone having an omelette with a fry up is getting shot on sight, which is more important.

Receptacle is misspelt too. It’s like they don’t have spellcheck in Scotchland.

Oh dear. That does leave the OP with a bit of egg on his face, one might say. Much like after a fry up.
