I went for the the 3.2 too, internet opinion swayed towards it being the least likely to implode.

My dad bought that 2.7 non-S which I did think wasn't quick enough - that's true. I then bought a 3.2S myself a couple of years later when I had the chance so I do stand by that.
It doesn't howl as sweetly on the overrun - but all round I'd rather have the extra power and 3.2s are still low likelihood for scoring. the Cayman S and later Boxster 3.4s had more of a rep for that.
The 3.2 just had enough grunt to play along with the big boys - I remember driving up to Skye and I had a guy behind me in a Conti GT. He didn't have enough additional power to get past and when we came up behind slower moving traffic, needed a bigger gap to overtake because of his laggy turbos so had to keep playing catch up

Yeah, my initial plan was keep it a couple of months. The wife drove it for the first time last weekend and she said "We HAVE to do a track day in this!", so I think we'll be hanging on to it a while. Probably keep it until next summer at least.

If she wasn’t already wife, that sort of statement is an immediate “marry me” moment
