I thought it was a lot like I expected ECOTY to be really, and pretty much complemented the article so far. Not for everyone, but I was happy with it, could've had a bit longer clips of the cars being driven I suppose. A bit more in car commentary.

It felt like a missed opportunity to me. If they were targeting their readers, then use the YouTube channel. If they wanted to raise awareness of the mag and the test, then they've failed.

And me. As DJ mentions it should have been a big opportunity to plug the magazine alongside the programme and the whole set up seemed devoid of the 'brand'.

Good start but clearly lots of potential.

I think it's more about ITV getting decent car content for TV. Look at Love Cars with Tiff and Paul becoming For the Love of Cars on ITV4. They know it's popular because of Top Gear and all the web based stuff. This is a cost effective way of getting decent content for the car crowd.

I thought the second episode was better. Could have been excellent if the CaymanGTS 4.0 had won. It was a mistake not sending a Miami Blue one!

Enjoyed the second half more than the first, and might need to rewatch it to see some of those roads they marked out, not that I'll be up there any time soon.

A few too many mentions of 'ecoty' as a word for any kind of general TV audience possibly. Jethro and John B came across well in it imo.

The final day was (IIRC) was the A708 between Selkirk and Moffatt. A superb road!

Now on YouTube, with a hefty cut in running time... Or it could just be lack of ad breaks 😁

Just got around to watching this, thought it was rather poor television.

1. Far too much shouty music, cutting in and out All The Time.
2. Far too little in-car pieces to camera. They'd cut to Henry doing a piece and suddenly it worked, then they cut away again and the flow stops.
3. Waaaay too many repeat shots of F8 and 765 sliding around the same sodding corner, time and time again.

What is most frustrating is that the evo crew in general came across quite well (although Barker seemed uncomfortable from time to time). Agree that it was a good idea, I just think they chose the wrong production company, who cocked it up. Or maybe they didn't have a choice but whatever, it was dull as a consequence.

They'd have been far better off giving the whole thing to Carfection to produce, then selling the result to ITV.

I happened across a podcast - first time I have listened to it - and they happened to talk about this around 7mins in. They also wanted the after-hours beer fuelled debate that I was hoping for.
