Basically the same setup caliper wise as your 996 then - or are they 4 pot?

Only 4-pots on the 996. But it is - literally - half the weight !

Still not fitted it ! I bought some s/h hubs so that I won't have to fight getting the old struts out of the old hubs, then got distracted with the other cars.

Decided to get a set of winters for Mrs mik’s f-Pace. Her Disco3 and Dicso4 were both run on Pirelli Scorpions which are not snowflake symboled, but do carry mud&snow markings. So they were good enough in bad conditions.
I was a bit nervous last year with the F-Pace as it is on low profile full summer performance tyres. Every time the snow came down I was waiting for “the call”

. By the time I had decided to get winters though - it was pretty much too late.
Jag recommend dropping down to 20” or 19” wheels for winter tyres. Which is stoopid.
You can buy oem sized Pirelli winters with JLR classification, but - amazingly - they are really expensive in the unique 265/40/22 size.
Some quick research confirmed that a 275/40/22 will also fit on the rim (9j22), and that size is £400 a set cheaper for the same Pirelli’s.
I have only heard good things about the Vredstein Wintrac however, and since a set of them were a further £100 cheaper again - that’s what I ordered.
Just arrived from Camskill - all manufacturing-date matched
Banished to the shed until needed.... (the tyres. Not new dug)

Why is there a jar of ear wax on the coffee table?

How else do you think Mik achieves such a lustrous shine to his ears?

FFS had my De La Soul reference all lined up!
530i is getting ever more worn, some new suspension bits will get it another years MOT today though. Still think it's lovely to drive and no idea what I'd replace it with for under £2k whenever rust/gearbox/suspension bill kills it.

It’s so easy to get carried away with spending.
My Carrera drove well (really well in fact) with a good gearbox and strong engine, but cosmetically it’s a ‘6-foot car’, with minor front arches rust (TADTS), bumpers required repainted, lacquer peel on driver’s door etc and was quoted £1.5 - 2k. The air con had started making noise also (re-gas?), and I had a message from the new owner a few weeks ago that one of the radiators had gone! Then the suspensions creaked; the new owner had the LCA replaced with solved the creaking, but the whole could do with a refresh anyway (dampers, mounts, arms/bushes etc).
All these plus I had to fit new exhausts back in July in order for it to pass MOT.
So I cut my losses

Roll restrictor and cat back fitted to ST today. Marked improvement with gear change and overall improvement in smoothness of drive. Little bit of NVH whilst it settles, only noticeable at low revs.
Exhaust not too boomy, sounds great on full chat, will try and get vid. Overall very happy.
