The good thing about getting older is that I have no idea who is cool anymore, so that is never a factor and amongst the old favourites my current listening includes Sleaford Mods, Pomplamoose, Fontaines DC, BILK, Mr Twin Sister, Courtney Barnett, Guided By Voices (I am trying - production is generally awful which I find a huge turnoff), etc etc etc

I haven’t seen Foos live for 20 years, I stopped going when they moved to big arenas and I disparagingly call them the gen x eagles.

My nephew's Drum Teacher says something similar about not battering the shite out of the drums. His view is that he should learn a little control of "force" as for the most part, he'll be playing in halls and small pubs where amplification of the electric instruments isn't great and you don't want the drums overpowering everything.

At least that's what my nephew says

I'm a Coldplay hater despite which I have quite a few of their albums. I don't have Parachutes and that's probably where the hate stems from; they were just whiny sub-Travis indie bedwetters who got lucky with Yellow. But I can rationalise my hate because I love U2 and that's a band with an absolute mountain of haters who seem to have virtually no views on their music at all, just dislike Bono. Separate the art from the artist.

I quite like Coldplay as background music, it’s like a more vibrant Lighthouse family which doesn’t offend any non music types

A friend of mine who is more into Metal was taken to one of the tours where he flings his microphone about and everyone has a light up wristband and he admitted it was the greatest gif he had ever been to. That was in Norway so probably Oslo or Bergen.
