Coldplay are playing some of their new songs. Nobody wants to hear new songs. Just stick to the hits.
Re: Glastonbury 2023
They’re not for me but you can’t say they don’t know how to play to the massive main stage crowd
Re: Glastonbury 2023
Meanwhile I’m thinking wtf is this
And their rendition of Viva la Vida was shit.

One of the best live stadium bands I’ve ever seen, they really are a fantastic show with a big crowd, massive energy, they had the whole of Wembley stadium dancing when I saw them.dinny_g wrote: Sat Jun 29, 2024 10:56 pm They’re not for me but you can’t say they don’t know how to play to the massive main stage crowd

Haven’t bothered with Coldplay. They’ve got some decent songs but it’s all just a bit boring dad music.
Disclosure are supposed to be on soon and hoping they’re good. Their first album is a regular in the car.

My 8yo declared Coldplay as boring this week. He's had to try and learn Yellow as part of his drum lessons.
Proud dad moment that!
Bit disappointed with BBC coverage. No Skindred. They don't have any Little Simz on iPlayer. No Sleaford Mods.

My kids (8 and 6) went with us to see the reinvented Pink Floyd last night - Nick Mason's Saucerful of Secrets.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2024 12:42 am My 8yo declared Coldplay as boring this week. He's had tomtry and learn Yellow as part of his drum lessons.

Prog rock isn't my regular choice of music but they were great. I can't believe Nick Mason drums as well as he does at 80 years old - he would still put a lot of younger well known drummers to shame. Gary Kemp does a much better job of lead guitar and vocals than Gilmour could these days.
The sound in the Albert Hall also puts the Greenwich O2 that we were at for Liam Gallagher a couple of weeks ago to shame.

Sleaford Mods and Little Simz are both on iPlayer now.
Watching Otoboke Beaver just now. They’re as good as ever.

I feel you lot are speaking in a different language! I’ve never heard of most of the bands you’ve mentioned!
I typically have podcasts on when driving and not much music, whilst liking individual songs as opposed to bands etc. Not sure I’ve ever liked an entire album, lucky if I like half the song on one!

Re: Glastonbury 2023
I really enjoyed Coldplay’s first couple of albums one one of the later ones (which is about 10 years old now, feck…) but a lot of their other stuff just isn’t for me. They do some good singles though and clearly know how to put on a great live show, but stick to the hits lads.
I do like Fix You and they often make great use of synths for a wall of bass noise building up to a chorus or something. I’m a sucker for that.
Parkinsons is an absolute cvnt. It doesn’t seem like that long ago Michael J Fox was playing Jonny B Goode with them and standing up giving it big licks.. looks like it was 7 years ago.

I've said it before 10 times on here. I'll never understand the Coldplay hate. Having seen them live they put on a show like nothing else. Hugely humble, massively talented and forever thankful to their fans.

Re: Glastonbury 2023
When I saw them a friend said “oh are they a guilty pleasure?” And I was like “no, there’s no guilt, they’re simply awesome live”. I get that people don’t like certain music, which is normal, but I always feel far more defensive saying ai like Coldplay than I would say Metallica or Foo Fighters, despite Coldplay being easily on the same scale if not bigger.Simon wrote: Sun Jun 30, 2024 5:38 pm I've said it before 10 times on here.
