Ukraine
Re: Ukraine
I guess it makes some sense keeping and using them against the enemy rather than setting them on fire so the Russians can’t reuse them….
but that seems a bit of a risky approach?

More savagery.

Re: Ukraine
I have no idea if the context - but sensible head Steven thinks that a column of burning Soviet armour in the road blocks Ukrainian armed forces and civilians as much as anyone else.mik wrote: Mon Feb 28, 2022 5:09 pm I guess it makes some sense keeping and using them against the enemy rather than setting them on fire so the Russians can’t reuse them….but that seems a bit of a risky approach?
So park them off the road, then strip any usable man portable weapons and ammo, *then* drop a few Molotov's down the hatch.
Re: Ukraine
Footage of a woman molotoving an APC being towed by a tractor (both marked with Z, so Russian operated) from a moving car.
She gets a bit toasty from the blowback and no confirmation of her injuries/status so I won't post it, but, err, yeah, so much for rolling into Ukraine and crushing opposition in two days as expected.

The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on

Re: Ukraine
How much of a massacre will the EU/NATO accept before they send in peacekeepers? It feels like the Russians are stepping up a gear..
Cheers,

Re: Ukraine
Any foreign boots on the ground - ANY - will give Putin another reason to step things up further. It makes it a direct NATO vs. Russia conflict. Same with no-fly zone. It’s a dismal situation. Nobody will win but Russia will be the largest loser at the end of the day. The economic sanctions sanctions although not stopping him here & now, will take decades to unwind.
Re: Ukraine
What’s the deal with the now 40 mile convoy having not been air striked at all by now?
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Ukraine
Yup, the general hope/plan is that other people high up in the Russian political structure will see the shit that's going down with their economy and standing in the world, and will pull Putin aside and stick a knif...I mean, advise him to pull out and step down. Eventually, even internally, his position will become untenable.Sundayjumper wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:11 am Any foreign boots on the ground - ANY - will give Putin another reason to step things up further. There's only so much internal propaganda you can put out in these days where state media isn't the only place to get news, and where smartphones exist.

Re: Ukraine
According to the Telegraph it has, and its advance has stalled. Makes sense as it doesn't seem to be any closer to Kyiv than yesterday.Mito Man wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:35 am What’s the deal with the now 40 mile convoy having not been air striked at all by now?
It's also reported that UK special forces veterans are organising to go over there to help support Ukraine - in particular snipers and specialists in anti- aircraft and anti-tank weapons. I'd already heard the French Foreign Legion were over there, and I imagine there'll be plenty of others making their way there.

Oh and Visa and Mastercard have put a block on any transactions to/from Russia.
Re: Ukraine
Pretty sure the French said that no, the foreign legion can't go there - something something technically a kind of NATO force, something something don't want to start WW3, etc.Swervin_Mervin wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 9:55 amAccording to the Telegraph it has, and its advance has stalled. Re: Ukraine
Hitting the logistics is a smarter move. Footage of burning tanks is nice and front page-worthy but works as propoganda back home showing that those nasty Ukrainians are blowing up our proud and glorious tanks. Whereas perfectly functional tanks stranded with no fuel just make the Kremlin look like amateurs.

Re: Ukraine
One other thing that’s not had much coverage - Japans’s ex-PM has urged Tokyo to consider hosting US nuclear weapons. That’s huge. Japan rather understandably has a massive taboo around nuclear weapons. For it to even be suggested is a very big deal indeed.
Re: Ukraine
Is that true or something repeated from Twitter? Incredible if true, but it feels like this war will be the first fought mainly on social media.Sundayjumper wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 10:12 am One other thing that’s not had much coverage - Japans’s ex-PM has urged Tokyo to consider hosting US nuclear weapons. I'm sure I read it on the BBC feed originally, but it's on the Guardian site too:Jobbo wrote: Tue Mar 01, 2022 10:30 amIs that true or something repeated from Twitter? Wow. Apologies for conflating my social media point with that; I don't want to make light of such a significant proposal.
