We're on our fourth (two convertibles & two clubmans, with various engines) and they've all been reliable. Clubman is longer wheelbase & higher roofline than the hatchback so decently practical but it'll still be a squeeze with two kids & a large dog.

Well most of the time it will only be one child, when we go away etc we will take the Kuga, it's just redundancy in case we can't use it for any reason, and when I'm away for work I'll be in the Kuga so we need something my wife can take our friends and associated kids out with too.

Argh.

Clubman shall be investigated, as will a Veloster if I can find one.

Shame the Countryman/Paceman has such a stingy boot.

2.0T Quattro as well, still has 200bhp. The model up to 2012 has a big boot compared to most hatches of the same area.

Well, after nearly 17 years, the Alhambra has succumbed to an electrical fault. It took us Dinant and back recently on a tank, despite the fact it's been running on 3.8 cylinders for the past 2 years, but a trip to the other village felled it.

Initially, we thought it was cam position sensor, but weird fault codes said otherwise. After 2 weekends work, I've deduced there's no power to the fuel pump, but will run with every sensor unplugged with a direct 12v feed to it . I've completely unwrapped the entire loom expecting to find touching wires somewhere, but nothing. I've also changed the glow plug relay as it said it has a direct to ground fault, and the infamous 109 relay, but the fault persists. I suspect ECU, but where do you stop?

With the MOT due, 4 tyres, and a cambelt needed, a juddery clutch and horrible oil leak, I think it's time to say goodbye.

Now I need to find something else. Large enough to accommodate 5 very rarely, but frugal enough to propel my wife 2 miles to work every day. And petrol. I'm done with derv now.

It's one of the most expensive Yeti's for sale, granted - but £17k for a 7 year old Skoda is strong money when they were £27k new.

There had been a 13k mile one for £22k but it'd sold before I could post...crazy prices aside, I'd posted for the later 1.4T engine; 10bhp down on the 1.8 but same torque, lighter, cheaper rfl, and still tuneable. I haven't looked to see if there any better priced ones but iirc it was only available in late top spec L&K models so slim pickings.

We bought our 66 plate Yeti in Sept 2020 on 12k miles for £10,500. Being offered £11,400 to sell it to Motorway now on 50k miles. They seem to be very popular.

Just checked WBAC and they reckon £5750 for mine, 1.2TSi, 2012, 60k miles. Sounds like it could be worth more than that if I tried to sell, but no plans to do so any time soon. Bought in 2015 for £13k with 8k on the block. Closest one on AT is £6950, 62 plate on 82k.

Incidentally, I also came across these lovely custom made plenums for M42 / M44. No idea of price but they're not going to be cheap.

Already got my eyes on a RHD throttlebody kit. It’s actually pretty sensible money all things considered

I know someone who’s just got 140bhp at the wheels with an ecu, exhaust and custom inlet, not even touched cams or cam timing.

Must not turn it into another project….
