Has yours got touchscreen? This 4 series I’ve got currently has CarPlay and not touchscreen. It’s infuriating.
My 330e has carplay/android auto with touch screen. Surprised the 4 series doesn't.
The 220i i had before this had it. The 420i cab i also had before this had it. think this is just cos its a poverty spec rental.

exactly - an Escalade doing 15mpg pumping out almost 500g/mile of co2 is fine, whereas my wife's 320d doing 45mpg with under 200g/mile co2 - BANNED.

Such a daft system. Especially as it's pushing people onto the tube which has horrific levels of air pollution down there!!
Co2 less important than NOx emissions now though as it’s the latter which causes health problems. I remember when it all went to shit with the emissions scandals that the old US V8 pick ups were putting out multiple times fewer NOx than our small european diesel cars as the latter were running higher compression higher temp engines to eek out more mpg and power out of a smaller capacity which is what ran NOx through the roof despite having so much less Co2.

The congestion charge is more daft, if it is truly congestion based why are EVs exempt

Finally settled on Falken FK520 for the Bentley, being fitted tomorrow. I've had Falkens before, most recently the predecessor FK510 on the 7-Series, and always been happy with them. I almost went with Fulda after learning they're not a random far eastern brand but actually German (who knew ???), but I couldn't quite do it.

I'm not massively concerned about handling limits blah-de-blah I just want smooth & quiet & comfortable. The tyres on there are ancient and hard. The road noise on anything other than perfect tarmac ruins the ambiance of the drive.

My father's 1981 Audi Coupe came on Fuldas from new. They had a cool pattern, though I've not seen much of them in the last 40 years otherwise

That's only when you consider it at an individualistic level as opposed to a population level. There are probably about 25 Escalades in the UK doing a combined total of 138 miles per year because their owners can't afford to do any more miles in them and only bought the thing in the first place because it looks cool. Their net emissions contribution is sod all. Meanwhile there are tens of thousands of 320Ds on the roads treated as long-distance transportation utilities, many of them pushing out tens of thousands of miles per year. The Escalades' emissions basically become meaningless in comparison.

Yes, the tube air quality is awful, however the fact remains that it's an incredibly efficient way to move people around.

If there’s on 25 Escalades in the UK, then the majority must live near Sandbanks!.. saw 3 Escalades, a jacked up F150, Ford Ute plus the usual supercars sat on the balcony last night alone!

Escalades make FFRR look like a Jimny! 😂

In other news, my mother moved my F430 a total of 20ft (adding up forward and back) and managed to gouge, not scrape, gouge the near side front wheel and damage the tyre side wall! FML! 🤦🏼‍♂️

They're having their cake and eating it though. They're justifying ULEZ by using the example of a girl dying from bad air quality, and if we can "save just one life..."

...Then they're trying to encourage people to use a system which has massively worse air quality for its users - efficient or not, it's not clean to use.

This is how you go down the slippery slope. See France right now, short haul flights within the country banned but private jets are not. But the ULEZ isn't based on rarity etc. Find anything older than early-mid 2000's on eBay and check it on the ULEZ site and it will have to pay up
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204335472581 ... R4LCg8KNYg
A massive 20 year old V8 will produce less NOx than a 10 year old diesel.

If you want to be surprised go look up the emissions of a handheld petrol leaf blower - it's something crazy like 30 mins of leaf blowing is the equivalent of driving a V8 Raptor 3000 miles!

Nobody lives on the tube. Lots of us actually live and breathe the air in this city 24/7, while only spending a few minutes on the tube each week.

My Apple Watch told me the same when I was standing at the top of a windy Bredon Hill yesterday. Bit over-sensitive. Maybe they should call it a snowflake watch.

Apparently it’s pretty accurate and I do have a nerdy watch face with the decibel meter always on for when I do noisy activities just in case I need to plug up.

I'm not convinced - the wind wasn't 90dB, it was just windy.

Wind is more of a low frequency noise so the dB figure is higher than you may expect - just cycling at a moderate speed causes enough wind noise to potentially cause hearing damage long term.

30 mph sustained winds are probably above 90dB.

It was a little bit windy, not sustained 30mph. Have you ever been out in 30mph winds? I wouldn’t cycle a mile in that, let alone 40.

I believe it was over 35mph yesterday in most of Kent if my weather radar is accurate, quite unpleasant on an exposed hill but not unusual? (Although it is getting towards June now…)
I’ve looked up the cycling thing https://www.henryford.com/news/2016/09/ ... aring-loss
Around 85dB at 15mph, so much louder at a lower speed than I thought.

It's pretty easy to get 90dB by blowing into a microphone. Download one of the free SLM apps for your phone and try it. I use the NIOSH one.

It’s not actually 90dB anywhere other than at the mic though; that’s my point.
