Your fleet running reports
Re: Your fleet running reports
Yea, the garage I use I have know the guys who own it for years and they have always steered me right. If they say get shot then I tend to believe them.

I'd already made the mental leap from "keeping" to "selling", I'm now reaching "don't care any more I just want it gone".V8Granite wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 1:46 pm Do check first as I think there is a mobile chap who does glow plug repairs and injector repairs on this era of Merc diesel.
I'll drop the price again and see if anyone bites.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Same again but make sure there's no leaks ?
Although I suppose it makes the trade-in conversation trickier, explaining why you urgently want rid of a car that's identical to the one they're selling

That’s what We Buy Any Car is for
Rescuing sellers of cars that look decent from outside but are otherwise ticking time bombs

How about not having a sig at all?
Re: Your fleet running reports
Yeah, indeed, although it has just ticked over 170k miles. Not really wanting to go down the finance route though and there seems to be a massive leap from utterly clunkers up to £16k for anything remotely interestingSundayjumper wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 4:54 pmSame again but make sure there's no leaks ?

yeah, it looks great, as long as they don't try the sunroof or horn...Mito Man wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 5:01 pm That’s what We Buy Any Car is for![]()

I gave WBAC a shot when I was selling my 7-Series. The bloke went over the body & wheels with a fine-tooth comb, knocking off seemingly £100 for every single blemish he could find, but barely looked at the interior, didn't look underneath, or drive it.
So if you need to shift an outwardly good-looking car with fcuked gearbox & suspension, they're your guys

XC40 has reminded me it's due for a service. It's a second year major service - £474!
That's about the same as a major service costs on the 928! Booked it in for the end of the month.

If you get all wobbly-lipped about the opinion of Internet strangers, maybe it's time to take a bath with the toaster as you'll never amount to sh1t anyway.

I know of a nice XF coming up for sale soon!
Re: Your fleet running reports
Agreed. We pumped our X308 XJ to them with a properly borked gearbox.Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Feb 27, 2023 5:11 pm I gave WBAC a shot when I was selling my 7-Series. The wife's F31 320d died last night, she'd gone to Reading to get something, then when she went to leave, the car wouldn't start. it came up with a starter issue warning. I presumed it was the battery, so We made sure she hadn't done anything silly/obvious first, then She called the AA.
2 hours later, her phone battery is nearly dead she thought fuck it and plugged it in for 20 mins. Then she tried the starter again and it started!
I still think it'll be a battery, it's probably original to the 2013 car. we've got it booked in with our local BMW guy tomorrow, but it seemed pretty random to me that it came back to life after a few hours. Hopefully it'll start tomorrow or I'll be jumping it...

Re: Your fleet running reports
No idea if it applies to BMWs but our old Passat suffered a common problem of the electronic steering lock sometimes not releasing, which blocked the starter. Battery is quick & easy though, and probably worthwhile regardless @ ten years old.Rich B wrote: Tue Feb 28, 2023 7:51 am The wife's F31 320d died last night, she'd gone to Reading to get something, then when she went to leave, the car wouldn't start. it came up with a starter issue warning. Discovered a slow puncture in the motorhome so going to go up later with some soapy water just to check the valve area before taking the wheel off. That'll be a pain in itself as they aren't the easiest thing to jack up but don't trust the tyre monkeys to jack it in the correct place. Plus finding space for a 7.5 metre motorhome at a busy tyre bay could be problematic.

I was parked near to a 530e/545e this morning and the differences are so very subtle, it was a sad car geek version of sport the difference. I gave up after finding the exhaust slightly different and higher ride height despite smaller wheels.

I went to see some friends in Hampshire on Saturday and pootled down the A417 and M4 with the cruise at 75. It was quite amusing watching the range to empty display creep up and up. I think I managed to do a 75 mile trip there using 15 miles of range.DeskJockey wrote: Sun Feb 26, 2023 8:33 pm That looks really good!
Since we've stopped the daily school runs in the Galaxy the MPG has improved significantly. Before I'd struggle to get much over 400 miles to the tank, but as we're now almost exclusively doing longer drives it has crept up just shy of 500 miles to the tank.
