40 miles in with the TT and wishing I’d bought one earlier. Fantastic steering, none of the legendary Audi understeer, just point it and it turns. The gearbox is great too and very different to what I assume was the same box in my Scirocco. Performance is bonkers quick too, I’m assuming a remap as it’s way quicker than other 2.0 turbos I’ve had.

On my way to measure parking spaces today I decided to test out the exhaust fix by doing a 2nd gear boot. Seemed fine, altho the copper behind wasn't too impressed with the 60 in a 30. Got told off

I’ve fully debadged the 550, I’ve also colour coded the cerium grey parts and swapped the grill for shadowline.

My valeter has cleaned it today, he was telling me about a guy with an s2000 who also modifies Civic typeR powered Lotus Elises. Anyone on here?

If it's the same guy who did Dan's s2k then I'm sure he did a nice job, based on the pics on Dan's FB :)

I saw the photos on the phone, it’s a 12 year old car looking factory fresh.

Yup, a bloody nice job, given that IIRC it wasn't exactly a pampered garage queen of a car in the first place, before Dan got it, IIRC

(correct me if I'm wrong Dan, I'll slap myself on the wrist on your behalf if necessary)

That’s more subtle still - does it have more pronounced sills than a normal 520d MSport?

Your alloys are the larger optional ones on a normal MSport too whereas the 550 comes as standard with a different design. I’d assumed you had the standard 550 ones; did you swap them or did it come with those?

14 years old now, being a 2009 car (the last year they built them) whilst it wasn't a garage queen it was a well looked after car, but it looks phenomenal now.

Vito. Utter ducking arsenuggets.

It’s up for sale, I have someone who says they’re happy to buy it if it passes a fresh MOT. The MOT is booked for Tuesday. Today I decided to change the glow plugs as it’s been flashing a warning for a few months but starts & runs perfectly so it’s not been high priority.

#1-3 changed no problem. But #4, closest to the bulkhead, seemed to be only finger tight. And kept turning and turning. It’s hard to get to and you can’t even see it clearly but I’m pretty sure the hex part has sheared off from the threaded bit. If so it’s not coming out without removing the head and taking it to a machine shop :(

I am sulking.

Finished and ready to install in the car as soon as my clutch plates arrive. The complete engine ended up being 20 kilos lighter than a stock K20 weighing in at only 83kilos.

FiL's mk6 Golf decided to not start as they were leaving for the airport to go on a Caribbean holiday (such suffering). Luckily the MiL's Jazz didn't let them down.

Went to have a look at it today and every warning light on the dash is on and it couldn't detect whether the gear lever was in park or not. Couldn't even turn the engine over. Stuck the jumper cables on and let it charge from my car for a couple of minutes. Sprang into life easily. After a 20 minute drive it seems a bit better, but I've told him to get a new battery fitted. Don't think it is the original one as it isn't VW branded, but it hasn't been changed since he bought it about 6-7 years ago.

Im pretty sure the sills, bumpers etc are the same across the range, will have a closer look next time I park near another. The car came with the 846m wheels which no out option on the 500 but a cost option on other engines in the range and yes, it does make it even more stealthy.

My neighbour has a new M3 and I think both cars tick similar boxes in very different ways.
