I was out a week ago too - even cycling on the road was grimy but I covered myself in mud and spatter on the unsurfaced bridleways and tow paths. Good fun but I knew it would be messy so I took my old bike.

The massive puddles on the lanes near me have started to recede at last. They were only there because the drainage ditches at the sides of the road were full so the water had nowhere else to do.

Roads are mostly dry here now too. Some of the small country lanes still have a little water running across them, but I can skip round the most of it on my motorbike.
