I was out a week ago too - even cycling on the road was grimy but I covered myself in mud and spatter on the unsurfaced bridleways and tow paths. Good fun but I knew it would be messy so I took my old bike.

The massive puddles on the lanes near me have started to recede at last. They were only there because the drainage ditches at the sides of the road were full so the water had nowhere else to do.
Roads are mostly dry here now too. Some of the small country lanes still have a little water running across them, but I can skip round the most of it on my motorbike.

The poop air has been lurking for a few days now even though we've had some clear, starry nights; annoying.

Fuckin' 33 DegC up here in the north this week. I see >38 degrees for you southerners.

How you lot planning to keep cool? I intend to just fucking die, from a functional standpoint, till the heat passes.

I’ve put up Gazebos and Awnings to shade the back of the house to keep the kitchen and dining room cooler.

Other than that. Fans - lots of fans

I have the pool up and AC in the main bedroom and my office, so basically doing the best I can to flit between those locations!

It's all about setup, in the daytime I either have an AC unit in my office room, or I'll pop into town for a co-work space that has amazing aircon.

As for the evening, I have a wool duvet which is incredibly cool in hot weather, plus a fan pointed at my bed, so generally sleep pretty well too.

Got AC in the flat. Even have a portable one which is very good but noisy because the flat one is a crap central unit so whenever it breaks I have to book an appointment, wait a week for the engineer, who then has to order parts which take weeks to arrive.
No excuse to suffer, the portable ones work just fine with a hose chucked out the window for a few weeks of use per year.
How about not having a sig at all?

I've done twenty miles on the bike today, no problem at all until you stop

At home we've got a portable air con unit which does a very good job of cooling the house down. It does have a hose you hang out of a window so I've finally made a window blank with hose attachment to keep the external heat out. This is a big thing for me as I am not a DIY enthusiast :D

Going to reach 40deg in Cheltenham on Thurs. Mrs is picking up a Black+Decker air con unit on the way home.

Do these actually work? Do they have an external heat sink? (or pump heated air outside?)

28C here today. I'm finding it difficult to be arsed working.

8' pool has arrived but I'm going to hold off filling it until the cover arrives, or it'll be full of pigeon shit in no time. I will get earache from my boy later if he twigs it's arrived and not been setup.

I plan to go in the office Tue/Thu and possibly Wed, given we have AC there.
