The emergency period and review of need for restrictions
3.—(1) For the purposes of these Regulations, the “emergency period”—
(a) starts when these Regulations come into force, and
(b) ends in relation to a restriction or requirement imposed by these Regulations on the day
and at the time specified in a direction published by the Secretary of State terminating the
requirement or restriction.

You know how in east Asia everyone wears face masks because they believe it’s better (and it’s the law) - I was chatting to a friend from HK about it. She said they believe the aerosol effect of it is much greater than we do, here we are told you can just catch it off touching an infected surface or being within 2 metres of someone infected. The latter is believed to be bullshit there as in aerosol form it can travel across a large room and linger in the air. Imagine spraying perfume in a corner of the room, leaving and coming back in 10 minutes, it will disperse throughout the whole room - I do wonder if this is how it’s spreading to MPs.

The 2m thing is no hard and fast cut-off point, it's just where they have decided the risk drops off significantly.

I don't doubt at all that it could float in smaller droplets in the air, but again, it's the viral load thing.


The MPs were all packed together on the benches where they're all shouting and braying over each other long after they told the public to start keeping their distance.

They won't lift any restrictions at all until they start seeing significant drops in cases / deaths. Even then they'd somehow have to do it gradually so people don't all flood the pubs and bars for a massive pissup.

I can't see large group activities like football matches or concerts getting back to normal for 6months +

I'd love to think so but don't think this will be the case. I think we'll get locked down and mass business closures will happen. We'll be at home for quite some time I'd say. Hopefully I'm incorrect!

My kids are about to learn a harsh lesson in rationing. The pair of them have somehow managed to get through a 15 pack of Coke 330ml cans since Friday. They’re on tap water until next Friday when MrsREV does her next shop. I don’t even know how they managed it. Dickheads.

Prepare to share close space with some caffeine comedown bundles of misery for a few days! I skip a coffee in the morning and it's a shitty headache by lunchtime. They'll have learned their lesson about moderation and addiction by then hopefully.

My condolences [mention]240PP[/mention]. Like you say, it’s never a good time, but must be even more awful just now. A friends mum died a couple of weeks before this all really kicked off so they were able have a ‘proper”funeral. Unfortunately now her Dad has been stuck in on his own, totally cut off from everything and everybody.

Shopping round here isn’t too bad now at the smaller supermarkets, but my wife was saying that all the older folk are wanting to get close and have a chat and just don’t seem to be getting it at all.

I've run every day for the last few years and I've noticed a lot more people out exercising since the lockdown. Can't help wondering if people have mis-interpreted the guidelines and are thinking they MUST exercise once a day or they'll get fined £60.
