Oh right - in my mind, your trips were a regular thing...

My last two or three trips have been 5 day'ers to Kitzbuhel. Fly to Munich and it's a couple of hours from there in the car. We can do two of us, sharing a car and a double room, all in for about £1000 each.

We've sort of figured out how to save a bit - we tend to stay in a hotel in Oberndorf (about 10 mins in the car from the Kitzbuhel base station) which works out about 20%/25% cheaper than Hotels in town and we rent our gear in a place called Reith (which is on the way in from Munich), again saving a significant amount.

I should be there now but have to skip this year as College Fees are looming large on the horizon for September.

We learned long ago that if you're not into your Apres (which we absolutely are not), staying in the resort is a waste of time. (Having a non drinker mate who doesn't mind driving in the evening helps too. :D )

More appealing than a normal tent and a far better job than the cybertruck's naff tent effort.

Look at menus in restaurants before you go in, some are extortionate. The Colosseum is a must but get a guided tour or you will miss loads.

Off to Germany for a week in a motorhome with the kids.

Off to Rulantica for a waterpark day, next day at Europapark and before heading home Wunderland.

Any recommendations between Hamburg and Freiburg, must be child friendly and wife friendly. I don't think I could manage a Mercedes museum day unless it's a rest day.

Dave!

We're off to Les Gets in the French Alps (near Morzine) on Saturday for a week with my fam

We go to France together every year - the last three of which have been amazing road trips with the Boxster

This year, we're going to a gig in Brighton on the Sat night, so we're getting an overnight ferry from Newhaven-Dieppe, then doing the drive to Les Gets in one hit on the Sunday - will be a very long day

My wife and I then have a few days afterwards on our own to meander back to Dieppe again

Can't wait to get the car in the Alps 8-)
