That analogy never occurred to me for some reason. It makes sense that I prefer the look of more upright bikes to sports bikes considering that I spend most of my cyling time bombing around on MTBs with big suspension and laid back geometry.

Maybe we need a Cyclist thread (not a dig, genuine suggestion!)

NotoriousREV wrote: Wed Jun 06, 2018 1:15 pm The sensible thing to do is to get something a bit softer and more upright. You’ll go as fast as your mates on the sportsbikes, you’ll do more miles, and you’ll have more fun. You just won’t look as cool.

The reality is that you’ll probably fall for a certain style of bike and that will drive your decision more than anything. You’re a grown up, but whatever floats your boat and remember you control the throttle and it goes both ways.
My current thoughts are to get a smallish adventure bike, so I can start doing small road trips. Something like a CB500x.

I imagine you'll all say that's DIW, but I don't give a fuck! 😉

It wouldn’t be my choice but that doesn’t make you wrong. It’s whatever floats your goat. Personally if that’s the type of thing you’re after, I’d take a look at the Suzuki V-Strom 650. I think it would keep your interest a bit longer.

Yeah, I'll have to try and have a decent poke around and (if I can climb up them) test ride a V-Strom 650, BMW F800 GS and maybe a Kawak Versys when it comes to the time. Doubt I'd go for anything larger than them though, won't suit my skinny 3'8" stature 😉

Rode my bike in to work every day this week, as the planets aligned for once. Did the proper method of calculating MPG...152! Making my 250 mile a week commute a bit cheaper. Especially as fuel prices have gone bonkers again 😕 Love nipping through all the traffic, but I think putting on my motorcycle gear pretty much makes the time saved by using my bike negligible.

Anyone follow this years IOM TT? What a week of racing!

I noticed that Dean Harrison was using Handroids....

It was the Handroids that made him so fucking fast this year.

Another new one in the Bike Park and a question...

HONDA VFR1200F

Now the question - I think this is a good looking bike - is it a good looking bike ?? :)

If you like it, it's a good-looking bike. Does nothing for me but it's not hideous.

Not a fan of the looks of the VFR1200 - cracking bike though.

I'm way quicker cross-country on my RT, even two-up, than I am on my 748 even if I ride it like a knob. Awful road bike. But it's nice to baarrrp up to the Ox and Plough on a Tuesday and hammer around Snetterton a few times a year.

I keep wrestling with this S1000RR/Panigale conundrum all the same though.

Motorbiking is ace. The end.

V4 Panigale or one of the V-twin ones?

The V4 does things to my baby-making parts that I don't really want to post online.

If anyone wants to know what a good-looking bike looks like, this is the ultimate as far as I'm concerned:

V4S obvs, who buys the old spec one? Ugh.

I will probably buy neither until I can afford to buy both, then buy neither and buy a plane instead. Probably. :p

VFR1200 is gopping, to my eyes. Just too slab sided. Cracking bikes, though, if a little uninteresting.

A "Nice Looking Bike" seems way more subjective than for cars...

There are definitely some standouts in the bike world, but for the most part they all look the bluddy same to me.

My RT is a year old in a week's time, it's just just over 9k miles. I can't see that £25k investment getting anything like as much use. Doesn't really compute at the moment.
