The fact it’s got a load path left to right and front to back in the roof plane is already miles better than a convertible, whether it still has scuttle shake it another thing.Jobbo wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 7:28 pmSurely worst of all worlds; it clearly sacrifices rigidity while giving a feeling not much different to a sunroofOrange Cola wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 7:02 pm Dave, does the T-Top sacrifice any structural rigidity?
I’m a complete convert to open top motoring but that looks to be the best of both worlds.

Re: Project Redneck
It feels much more like a convertible than a sunroof, it has bad scuttle shake, but apparently this can be improved with a strut brace and some weld-in subframe connectors.

Sounds like a relatively ok modification, think it’ll go on the list?

It says IROC-Z on the side in ridiculous font. What's not to like

As I wasn't massively into US cars at the time, when this came out I thought he was saying that he drives, and I rock, and I couldn't quite work it out.
Then many years later it clicked.

No, that was more like 2001/2 onwards IIRC.

I didn’t know what IROC was until this thread. And I have no idea what song you’re on about
How about not having a sig at all?

You're an engineer, aren't you? That load path left to right you mention, where's the bracing...? You can't just replace a roof skin with a stick and expect it to do muchOrange Cola wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 9:04 pmThe fact it’s got a load path left to right and front to back in the roof plane is already miles better than a convertible, whether it still has scuttle shake it another thing.Jobbo wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 7:28 pmSurely worst of all worlds; it clearly sacrifices rigidity while giving a feeling not much different to a sunroofOrange Cola wrote: ↑Thu May 21, 2020 7:02 pm Dave, does the T-Top sacrifice any structural rigidity?

Re: Project Redneck
The B pillar is there for the left to right bracing, I think the stick you’re referring to is the front to back connection between the B pillar roof section and the top of the windscreen. Depending on how thick it is it’ll provide some level of rigidity and that’s the question, it looks like it still has load paths through it in the areas where a convertible doesn’t have them but does it actually function or does the car still have scuttle shake just like a convertible?Jobbo wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 10:30 amYou're an engineer, aren't you? I think arguing about whether cutting the roof off a muscle car based on a 60’s platform affects the handling might be a bit pointless

Well I have no direct experience but Rev does, why not see if he mentions it on this page?Orange Cola wrote: ↑Fri May 22, 2020 11:59 am does the car still have scuttle shake just like a convertible?
