Re: Coronavirus
Just heard that my MiL's cousin died of Corona last night, he was 55 and very likely contracted it from his son.
That's two of her cousins dying within three months (first one not Corona related).

Yes, that's quite a burden to have to bear, even if it wasn't his fault.240PP wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 11:26 amThat’s shite, and how awful for the son.DeskJockey wrote: Sun May 17, 2020 11:18 am Just heard that my MiL's cousin died of Corona last night, he was 55 and very likely contracted it from his son.

Re: Coronavirus
I went out earlier on to pick up the shopping, it's a nice day here and there were loads of people out and about walking. There was no social distancing either, anywhere where there were two groups of people walking towards each other and they just brushed shoulders as they passed, we're in for a second peak.
Loads of bikers out in big groups too. It was like a bank holiday from ten years ago because everyone was out and about and virtually no shops open.

I didn't see any issues today with social distancing when we were out for a walk. People being as polite and respectful as usual.
Bikers have been extremely noticeable though. The sound of bikes being rung out has been the sound track of the day. They'll get a lot of bad press I'd imagine!

Yeah, we went over to Virginia Water this morning (we started at 9 because we have a 2 year old who doesn’t respect weekend lie ins) - it was pretty quiet, though definitely fuller by 11 or so when we left. Not much issue with social distancing, just the odd runner a little keen to stay in their zone. Everyone else was still leaving 2+ metres.
Re: Coronavirus
We went for a long walk around the local area, plenty of people out and about, but everyone was respecting social distancing.
Settle down OC, might never happen.

Re: Coronavirus
Went out on motorbikes with 3 mates - we parked up in 2s and kept away from everyone when stopping at a cafe in Buxton. On the other hand there were apparently 200 plus bikers in Matlock plus the car visitors.
I've just been out again in the car .... roads are dead, just full of sheep / lambs which made going quickly quite a hazard

Re: Coronavirus
Did anyone else notice a general upbeat mood start this week? The only misery is the media but talk to real people in business and they are looking to get back to some sort of norm as soon as possible.

Trump is preemptively taking hydroxychloraquin ( probably not spelt correctly ) to ward off corona virus.
You know, the malaria tablet he bought 30million of on a hunch it might work.
Early trials have shown it almost doubles the fatality rate in covid-19 patients

Can cause heart issues as well can't it. Fingers crossed he's not just a lying cvnt* that's bullshitting to try and raise the stock price of something he has a financial interest in.integrale_evo wrote: Tue May 19, 2020 11:33 am Trump is preemptively taking hydroxychloraquin ( probably not spelt correctly ) to ward off corona virus.

And bull's eye maculopathy (i.e. retinal toxicity induced blindness) where used for extended periods (though presumably not relevant here unless you're a crazy that plans on taking it for a few months just in case you get Covid).

Someone will (and has) say that every time anything changes. Infection and deaths are still dropping daily.

Nice to see the usuals suspects in the press going after teachers again for not wanting to go back into schools without proper controls.

There is no fail safe solution. If I was a parent I would send my kid back as they need to learn and I'd be shit at home schooling.ZedLeg wrote: Wed May 20, 2020 10:11 am Nice to see the usuals suspects in the press going after teachers again for not wanting to go back into schools without proper controls.
