Well the first issue of my re subscription arrived today and I have to say I'm not impressed, the quality of the paper is terrible and the once stunning photography looks like it's printed on newspaper.

That particular change happened months if not a couple of years ago now - I was told I was being very picky (or more sweary words to that effect) when I mentioned it on here

I haven't subscribed in around 5 years and I won't be after these 3.

I really should just cancel it... Its been a good streak, but its not what it once was, but then neither is the car market.

Sorry but again, don’t complain about the paper quality. Compare it to Car. It’s all a matter of context. Yes compared to the quality of Magneto for example, you have a point, but other monthlies, it’s fine. Car’s paper is truly awful.

I’m not comparing it to any other mag as I don’t buy any, I’m comparing it to the evo I used to buy and the quality has dropped significantly while the cost has risen.

Paper costs have gone up across the board, print is not the darling it once was. But evo still seem capable of printing on half way decent paper for a comparable cost whereas others do not. That has to be the point.

The new one landed yesterday I think, maybe the day before. Not too bothered about the paper quality as it is still easy to read and see pictures but the content just seems to be so repetitive, maybe twenty odd years you are bound to get groundhog days but long termers are just a procession of the same old (although the older cars owned are interesting) rally hero articles...again, "lesser" supersaloon/coupes test.. Oh but actually we couldn't get the Panamera we wanted so this is the hybrid making the test pointless, also the other cheaper models have £20k of options on them. I should go through the last few months and see how many cars are even remotely "real world" as the content is less and less interest as time passes which after 17 or 18 years plus of subscription is a shame.

[mention]Gavin[/mention] issue 274 landed today and yeah, I agree with everything you say. I think its time for me to let it go and end the collection with 275 magazines in the loft. Its been a good run though.

The latest issue is very good I thought, there is a lot of going over old ground in this one but the articles are still fresh with new perspectives given the time passed. The fast fleet section has become pretty dull though, apart from the old cars which are far more interesting

Crikey. Quite a few things turning 25 right now. Our company just did, evo mag coming up. Amazing that it's been around that long.

I commented on that image on a few of the posts that the team have made. I'd like to think I know by now how to take photos of pretty much everything and it genuinely isn't very often I see an image and go 'wow!' out loud but that photo did it. I have a theory in my head how he did it, but I'd love to actually know. Even if my theory is correct, actually doing it and getting that result is in my opinion up there in terms of greatness with that video clip of the fella talking about how rockets work and timing him pointing at one going off perfectly.

First EVO cover I can remember, I'd actually pay to have a copy of on my wall as a print.

He mentions it's a composite of a number of images, so would it be as simple as asking the cars to stop at each hairpin, then start a new long exposure shot each time they set off again?

ETA: Dinny, I think the multiple images is just to get the light trails but maybe the lighting on the mountains is more complicated than I initially thought?

I'd be interested to hear that theory, as I am sure you can see way more technical elements than my highly untrained eye. It really is a fabulous image.
