Abso-fucking-lutely this
I wonder how many companies have realised this and will be looking to downsize their physical operations significantly?
Indeed, the world is going to be very different after this, Business travel is now pretty much obsolete as well!

I'm looking forward to going back to the office - mainly the social aspect - we all like each other!
Given I started this job at a point in time where most people were WFH voluntarily, followed by the office closing 2 weeks later, I’ve only met about 4 people that I work with. I’ve only ever known them via video.

Well, it's not like you work for a big company anyway, is it?

yeah, I do office fit outs. we’re anticipating much smaller square footages, but more function/better design required for new offices. Which tbh suits us - we’re quite a design led company rather than a “churn out boring desk layouts for cheap” and we usually win jobs on design and relationship rather than cost.

Exactly. My office is supposed to be in Manchester, but there’s only me and 1 other in our team based there (and we live closer to each other than we do to the office) so even if I was in the office, most of my interaction would be conf call.

The local beer shop is doing bottles of draught delivered locally. Goes live for orders at 1200 on a Friday for Saturday delivery. Went on to order some at 1205 today... good stuff sold out before I had time to choose. :(

I've been ordering direct from breweries.

If you like hazy IPA try a keg of Disco King from Turning Point Brewery. 24 quid for a 5l keg and its delicious.

I've decided to once and for all, climb Ben Nevis as soon as practical. I've tried three times over the years and never even made it to the top of the switchbacks. (Twice due to others in a group not able to go on and once due to a sudden snow storm... in August... )

any plans in the offing ???
Yes it was me. I’ve had some bad news though. I was clocked for speeding in Germany late last year, 160kph in a 100kph. Fine came in the post, €285 and I had a follow up letter saying my payment was received, all basic easy German. I then later got a lengthy letter which was incomprehensible and I didn’t bother getting it translated. I did a couple of days ago though and it turns out I’ve to serve a month’s ban in Germany, once they receive my physical driving licence, which I posted yesterday. So essentially I’m banned from driving in Germany until early June at the earliest.

Buying some more property.

Hopefully I can mitigate the financial reaming of the lockdown by picking up some places at knockdown prices.

Holiday-wise, we're supposed to be doing our annual French chateau thing in early August, and have already paid for the snazzier-than-usual place, but I suspect that some of the members of the group (5 over 70, plus one with bad asthma) might be a bit reluctant.

I’ve been doing well staying off the booze but I’m looking forward to going to somewhere with a pool table and hanging out.

Can get different sized beer boxes from my local Mobberley brewhouse. Think they do free national delivery

Local beer shop is doing bottles and 5L+ kegs of Tring beers nationally too, but I was after the fresh stuff. I don't think even 5L is much good to me. I need more like 2L.

Anyway, I'll just have to slum it with normal bottles from the supermarket for now.

I’m looking forward to driving and seeing the folks again, and not going into the office full time but instead trying to make WFH the new normal. I bet I’ll fail at the last one because our company is so backwards at these things they’ll put a WFH ban in.

I don’t think there will be a complete lift of all restrictions for a long time yet so I’m just hoping I can get to the pub and get away to my holiday cottage at some point this year. It’ll be nice to see friends again.
