OK so the brakes I've tanked it down the bypass and for well into 3 figures it stops amazingly so the problem is me and my weak leg

It's been a while since I've had to watch my step driving at this time of year. Coming off roundabouts is interesting. The rear on this moves quite quickly and if it has traction control it doesn't work .

Pleased I decided to get this done.

Ran my other half into town earlier in the golf - it did 16mpg, Boxster hovers around 20 driven at the same speed. Not bad

I also found the advert from when it was last sold - slightly better than the ebay one

Cars in for a minor service, belts and brake fluid today. Mentioned the brakes aren't very good around town. This is either normal or they've rusted on the inside and needs new disks and pads. I'm hoping this isn't the case

Amazing what changing brake fluid does.

Pads are 80 percent and disks fine. They actually work at low speed now.

Service highlighted I've been really lucky with this car as I just presumed it would be fine. Apparently the air con doesn't blow cold and the filler cap needs replacing. Brake lines might require sorting one day as will other various none serious issues. Garage said it's one of the best examples he's seen as they all get a bit scabby at this age. Bonus!

Fellow scuffed inner door sill sufferers - is there a cheap way to wrap them / get rid of the scuffs rather than replacing them with expensive items like these temping buggers?

Have you considered hydrodipping? Would probably be neater than wrapping with all those curves.

3M do a wrap that’s self adhesive and applied with heat, comes in numerous colours and textures. You apply with a hair dryer and remove with a hair dryer, it’s also easy enough to work with that you don’t necessarily need to remove parts. Rolls of the stuff are pounds rather than hundreds too and I’ve managed to do a reasonable job on items when I tried a few years back.

Edit: search for 3M vinyl wrap on eBay and you’ll find loads.

Yeah, those sections look pretty simple to wrap to me. Give it a go, you’ve got plenty of time on your hands.

I always asked any new passenger to be careful and to step over the sill (even it made me look/sound like a dick), as the sills get scruffy too easily with the lightest of touch.

Can’t control it when the car is at the mechanic/mot though

Back in the early 90s I remember my dad even making us kids take our shoes off in one of the 928s he'd just bought... it didn't last long

Not quite the same thing but I had a Mk1 Astra that I bought off a mate’s dad. He was fastidious about keeping this car mint, until a gypo twatted the rear quarter with his Transit van. I paid £75 for it and a new panel.

Anyway, inside this Astra it was a veritable delight of brown velour and beige plastic, all in perfect condition. Up until the moment my mate Podge put his size 10 work boot right through the door pocket, smashing it to bits and taking half the door card with it.
