40 years ago my (and for a short stint since) my Mum worked at the Marsden as a Radiotherapist. It's all changed a bit now but her mentor was pretty well known in cancer treatment circles back then.

Don't feel any obligation, but the next time you feel like throwing something in the pot, the Royal Marsden is one of my preferred causes (they pulled my mum back from the brink many many years ago).

Re. The broken support - screwfix and/or toolstation sell little angle brackets like this - https://www.screwfix.com/p/angle-shrink ... pack/20034 (other sizes available) - pair of those is very good for fixing chair legs etc.

Did consider something like that, but can't see how I can fit them. I'll have another go at creating a replacement support when I've sourced a few tools.

Post/PM a pic of the broken bit. There's very little on furniture that can't be fixed with mending plates and wood glue.
