It is but you get what you pay for compared to most of the crap sold by supermarkets and DIY stores. It burns cleaner, hotter and for longer so I tend to use less of it, so the cost differential isn't quite what it first seems.McSwede wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2020 11:50 amI quite agree, but it's bloody expensive though isn't it?Swervin_Mervin wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2020 9:59 am As a fallback you can't go wrong with Weber charcoal tbh.

They sold out because they were effectively selling them for £9.60 odd a bag, delivered, just before Easter.Carlos wrote: Wed Apr 22, 2020 1:28 pm The Briquettes are often £12 or less when on offer for 8kg in Go-outdoors.
Its out of stock or not on sale at the moment there so I've ordered some restaurant compressed charcoal logs to try online.

It looks like I’m christening my rotisserie tomorrow with a whole chicken. I’ll also be attempting home made BBQ sauce.

Weber seem to call them barbecues.

I'd quite like an outdoor kitchen with one I must admit. And pizza oven, bbq, smoker and a tandoor just to cover all bases

I find there’s more appeal in the unusual things, some people don’t realise how much food can be BBQ’d or smoked beyond sausages and burgers and how good a quality it can be. I’ve been fortunate enough to try a well respected chefs menu a few times who is big into his smoking and it was just another world, it’s like I hadn’t tasted food before the difference was that good

Once you've gone to the effort to set it all up, stick another one on for lunches/curry etc.
This is my usual bbq sauce, comes out quite runny but very tasty.
250ml (8 fl oz) apple juice
137ml (4.5fl oz) ketchup
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons molasses (i used black treacle)
1/2 teaspoon pure chili powder
1/2 teaspoon granulated garlic
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
In a small saucepan over medium heat, mix the sauce ingredients and
let simmer for about 5 minutes. Then remove the saucepan from the
heat. Taste and add more salt and pepper, if desired.
The Evo forum really is a shadow of its former self. I remember when the internet was for the elite and now they seem to let any spastic on

Thankyou, I might pinch some bits of that! It’s the first one I’ve seen with apple juice in it.
I’ve got a recipe I’m going to try, may modify it into a BBQ cola sauce...
