No, they're genuine ;)

(sensible answer - yes they are)

Everyone seems to be doing far more fun things with cars than me lately

MOT tomorrow. Suspect I'll need a new wing mirror glass for it what with the crack in the existing one but I'll await their judgement.

Nothing else seems suspect on the car so hopefully not much drama.

And for those that are wondering - yes you can get all four 19” wheels in the back of a smart forfour!

How low did it sit?
Didn't notice much difference to be honest! As the engine is at the back I think the rear suspension is stiffer than you'd expect.

I checked the oil for the first time the other day and was amused to see that the engine cooling is provided by something broadly similar to one of those USB powered desk fans

It did live in Norwich so possibly!

The engine is very low down and jammed between the rear wheels tho so I'm not surprised it gets a lot of road dirt. Looks like it would be very easy to flood it in more than a shallow puddle.

Ioniq passed the 1k miles mark this week. Performs its commuter/runabout role very well, it's a nice place to be and easy to drive. Lacks the character of an ICE car, very little drama or connection with the process, you just get in an go, park and walk away. So little effort that you don't connect with it.

I still play the coasting/regen games, and enjoy annoying people off the line with its easy 0-60 waft (it's not rapid at 9.5secs, but it does it every time) but it's a one trick pony, merely offering efficient transport with all mod cons. I'm enjoying it for that, but I think I'd miss a fun car if it were my only vehicle.

I take the Civic out every weekend, for a blast, and as I'm deliberately taking it for a fun run I'm really enjoying it again. It's noticeably quicker than the EV too, which it should be as its lighter and quite a bit more powerful

Galaxy has been back to Ford to investigate why the stop/start didn't work. My guess was that leaving it sitting for five weeks had knackered the battery, but apparently it just needed the battery management system resetting. We'll see!

The NS wing mirror I had bought never showed up (thanks Hermes), so breaker is refunding the money.

While driving on the M25 a few weeks ago there was a loud bang as something hard hit the car, I was coming up behind a lorry at the time. Couldn't see any damage from the ground, but yesterday looking down at it from our bedroom window there's two visible dents in the roof.

Radio is now all fixed, have had no issues, so that's something.

And it is filthy, utterly, utterly filthy. Might spend some time on Saturday cleaning the inside.

Spent quite a bit of time giving the mito a post winter scrub the weekend before last, a decent de-tar and a coat of fusso.

It still didn't feel as slick as previous times for some reason.

Last weekend spent some Halfords vouchers on some autoglym magma, gave the car a quick wash and rinse then a squirt of magma. Was pretty surprised at how much contamination it found. Let it do its thing, gave it another rinse and wash and the surface feels properly slippery again, and has stayed fairly clean despite quite a bit of wet road driving since.

Yay! Would you have expected it to have played up by now normally?

Re; Stop/start. When I was only going into the office once a week (46 mile round trip) my stop start wasn't triggering. Then last week I took it on a 150 mile trip up to see a customer in Norwich and it started kicking in towards the end of the journey, and has worked ever since. I think the long run really brought the battery level back up to par.

Even after long journeys (50+ miles of motorway) it didn't kick in. It was never the most aggressive setup, so we'll see what happens now.

Car is back. On top of the check they waived the courtesy car charge and cleaned ours. While the quality and thoroughness won't give Mr. Tipper cause for sleepless nights it saves me having to do it.

Unfortunately it also shows the state of the paintwork and it could do with some serious detailing attention.

On the upside they confirmed that they'd done the timing belt as part of replacing the head, so that saves me a fairly chunky (£500+) service cost when it was otherwise due in two years.

Got a copy of the invoice and the total bill from November was just shy of £3k

No internet at the MOT centre so they can't do any MOTs, take any card payments, etc, but he did say after giving it a look where it was parked it would have failed on the cracked drivers side mirror (discretion - he reckons it's too much, I disagree, but it's his shout), so ordered one of them and rebooked for next Tuesday.

I bought a 1994 Civic Coupe.

It started life as a 1.5 automatic but has had a B16A2 engine with manual swap at some point. Plenty of other track mods like coilovers, LSD and so on. Plan is to tidy it up a bit as there is rust in the usual places (90's Honda life), maybe some period correct mods then turbo it.

Exhaust solenoid valve gone again on Exige. Part is on “back order” at Lotus so expect it to arrive some time in 2022 given current circumstances.

Currently thinking I might just plug the vacuum line and leave it open the entire time. Neighbours be damned.

Drive to the coast for a night away on my own in the Caravan tommorow. Hoping the roads are clear as its supposed to be about 7oC and dry so it will be the first time I can stretch the Volvos legs properly in a while.

101 Quid to fill up with V Power earlier, should get me there and back I hope

Very nice. Cut price Integra ;) Far too cheap on eBay so had to purchase?
