Dodgy eBay seller

Post by Gavin »

Was browsing cars, as one does, and came across a "local" seller that has a different @xtmail address and daft pricing.

Tried to find a way to report a dodgy seller but the links just circle back to reporting each item individually. Which is a pita.

Anyone found an easy way as they are scary low prices so easy to imagine getting scammed with a "moving abroad, pay a deposit" type thing.

They crop up all the time. eBay seems generally on the case though and they get taken down quite quickly.

I've noticed it loads recently while browsing the classics sections, loads of ads, probably hundreds as attractive starting prices, one photo and a buy it now price and generic gmail email in the second photo.

Loads of them are of the same car that's on there at the same time with a proper ad. I usually report a couple of them if I see them and they're often all down again within a couple of hours, but then all come back again under another, presumably hacked, account a few hours later.

I'm assuming they've got some sort of bot doing the legwork as it's take them hours to save the pics and titles, edit and create the listings.

There’s a big problem with people listing stolen car parts, pretty much guarantee things like location just based on the pictures and price. It’s scary, less police and more theft but the government denies there’s a link between the two and don’t properly explain what they think the problem actually is...

Well the adverts all seem to be there soon! Hopefully they will get on it before anyone gets scammed. Cheers
