Would Sir like to revise his estimate? This TurboBeany wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 6:31 pmThey also explicitly want it drivable though, as it'll be a road car, so something smaller for a quicker spool, and around 300bhp would be my guess.RobYob wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 6:28 pmThat size of modern turbo would support 500+ at a guess.Simon wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 6:20 pm It also shows that the '200bhp target' from a few episodes ago was BS too. With all that head work, plus a good turbo, you're talking between 250 and 300bhp at least.

Maybe they're just sandbagging in public so they don't have to pay a lot for their insurance when it's finally on the road.

Fucking hell in a mini 450 - 900 bhp.
Re: Project Binky
Interesting, although I'm still gonna say sub 400hp - again, usable on the road - and the sort of roads they've shown off, they ain't 400+hp roads.

Yeah, I''ve never seen one driven on single track roads. Anywhere.
Re: Project Binky
They would've chosen something smaller, easier to package and faster spooling if they'd wanted "only" 400hp. It might have a low-boost mode and then an all-hell mode for Goodwood hillclimbBeany wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 8:10 pmInteresting, although I'm still gonna say sub 400hp - again, usable on the road - and the sort of roads they've shown off, they ain't 400+hp roads.

Re: Project Binky
Perhaps - I'd be genuinely quite surprised if it's knocking on 400hp (or more) though.
Re: Project Binky
Nah my old 3s made 440 at the crank with a std bottom end, old-skool turbo and cams. I'd suggest they will be aiming for 500, but it depends on how well their weird pulley drive system works in practice.

That’s cos your usually distracted when you go dogging up country lanes.Beany wrote: Mon Mar 02, 2020 8:57 pmYeah, I''ve never seen one driven on single track roads. Anywhere.
Re: Project Binky
Yeah, 4wd, sticky tyres, decent diffs. Easily usable power these days. New sticky Michelin tyres pretty much tame any car formally thought of as a widow maker.
How about not having a sig at all?

Oooh, it’s a good one this month!
Re: Project Binky
Great explanation of the damned-clever box n diffs n transfers n shizzles. Wow. And that vapour blasting technique is amazing.

That Toyota engine and box have some lovely bits of engineering.

Wonder if inception got the idea for the basis of the film from those splined shafts?

Yep, watched it earlier - lots of fiddly bits but entertaining.

Wonder how many times the words “whose fucking idea was it to put this in a fucking mini” were screamed whilst making this episode
