Anti Virus Software
Anti Virus Software
My question is: Is AVG still any use or can anyone recommend a free package or a decent company that charges but doesn't take the piss at renewal?
I used AVG Free in the past but last time we got a new PC we got a free Bullguard subscription. Since then I have just renewed every couple of years, after going through the rigmarole of refusing their massive price hike and then they can magically offer discount to me as a valued customer.
To be honest, the fact that I have to push every year makes me want to tell them to bugger off.

If you have Windows 10 and possess a modicum of intelligence required to not click every flashy pron popup, just use the built-in AV. In tests it consistently comes high up the list.
Re: Anti Virus Software
^^ that. Unless you want a serious endpoint protection solution then come to me for a Sophos subs, but otherwise just use Defender and don't be a mong.

You settle up, I'll go get the Jag.

On top of Win10's built in, I do occasionally run a quick Malwarebytes check on top of that (free version) to check those nooks and crannies that Win10 might not look at.

Cheers, I delved into the menu system but under AV it just said I was running Bullguard.
Forgive the noob question but will the proprietary AV just run as when my subs are up in a couple of weeks I will uninstall BG so it doesn't bombard me with e-mails and pop-ups.

Re: Anti Virus Software
Check in settings that Defender is still running as you may have disabled it at some point in the past.

It'll nag you the fuck to death if you don't have an active AV, so I'd just uninstall it and not worry

Re: Anti Virus Software
Yes, most 3rd party AV's will flag Defender to remain inactive. Just uninstall and re-check it after.
Re: Anti Virus Software
Cheers! Will do.
