Yep...

Yep...
there is something cool about this era of Volvo. I see a really nice 240 wagon every time I do the school run. It's lovely!dinny_g wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2020 10:56 pmYep...![]()
My best friend at college used to tool about in his Mum's one. It was pretty quick IIRC. Wasn't the 1.7 a Renault engine?
I've not quite given up yet. I'm back in a Saab so my career as an architect seems to be under way again. Although, it's a 20 year old 9-3 Aero so I'm obviously not a successful architect.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2020 8:46 pmJesus Jimmy, I know you’ve 2 divorces under your belt but there’s no need to completely give up on life.Jimmy Choo wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2020 8:04 pm The original Fiat Multipla.
I think I might need some help.
I seem to remember that the claimed 0-60 wasn't all that quick but it had loads of midrange. Yeah, it was the 1.7 Renault mit Turbo. I think people used to strip the engines to stick in R5GTTs?Simon wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 11:02 amMy best friend at college used to tool about in his Mum's one. It was pretty quick IIRC. Your knowledge is greater than mine. Yes, the midrange was very good. Very 'boosty' and a lot of fun for a pair of 18 year olds like us.NotoriousREV wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 11:21 amI seem to remember that the claimed 0-60 wasn't all that quick but it had loads of midrange. Mother used to have a 345....DL, I want to say?
I could only dream - mine was a 1.8 li. Still the most comfortable car I've ever driven
I had a 340 at Uni that I bought for £50 off a friend. It was a fecking liability. Some drunken student crashed into it and wrote it off as I was celebrating my last piece of coursework or something. Then it (ok, I...) caused a load of family stress when the propshaft went, I took it to a dodgy back street garage who took some money, failed to fix it, said it was tricky and wanted more money, until we got it back off them eventually.
Is there any other mainstream car with a transaxle?dinny_g wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2020 10:56 pmYep...![]()
And that’s the problem, I wanted it to be a RWD sports car. I didn’t realise they did a 200bhp 4wd version until recently, that will be the one to have.Sundayjumper wrote: Thu Feb 13, 2020 9:30 pmI had one, as long as you didn't expect it to be a sports car it was actually pretty decent. Comfy, big boot, and based on reliable Cavalier underpinnings. And they really were pretty stylish at the time.
IIRC I read one summary that advised they would understeer and oversteer in the same corner.Orange Cola wrote: Fri Feb 14, 2020 5:47 pmAnd that’s the problem, I wanted it to be a RWD sports car.
