Pilot Supersports were down right dangerous once below 3mm on my m135.

You are clearly a driving god AICMFP. Someone didn't manage the same on the M50 on Sunday. Junction 3 eastbound is pretty much a T junction off the motorway and some spam charriot had stuck it in the ditch via the trees with enough force to rip the front off the car.

I've found the Yoko WhateverYouLotRecommended on the back of the BMW to be surprisingly good - they've only been a bit slippy when it's been pissing down and 2degC out, which isn't bad for middle-high spec summer tyres. Driving at part throttle rather than like a complete muppet totally solves that problem too.

Just ordered 4 Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 2s for fitting to the Peugeot on Wednesday, £314.96 fitted including tracking at ATS via Blackcircles, 40 quid off if you buy 4 today as well.

Will see if they are as good as the Crossclimates on the Volvo if we do get any bad weather!

Tried one of the wheels I've been thinking of using as winters on the mito. They look very silly, but hoping they might look a bit more 'rally' with a suitably chunky tyre one them 😂

I have 4 CrossClimates in 185/60/14 to go on the Fabia so I'm hoping we get some snow.

Reminded me of another idiot in a dangerous RR with Cup2s.

Lol. Very much so. MPSS are not very good at clearing water. Mine were changed at 3-4mm as they felt like slicks 😂

I found the N rated RE050As were similarly bad in cold weather on my Boxster.

The PS2s were a big step up and clearly they’re an old tyre and miles away from a PS4S on performance. Oddly one of the biggest improvements I remember was in ride comfort.

The PS4S I just took off the 911 to swap on the winters had easily more grip at the crossover point in temperature (admittedly the winters are past their sell by date and have been like travelling around with the grim reaper recently).
Thanks - I think I will go with the PS4S... is it necessary to slavishly adhere to the N rating stuff?

I did for the 996 but you could often get them at the same price if you looked around.

Interestingly i recently noticed that the *Star marked BMW tyres had a different Noise and Efficiency rating to the non *Star equivalent which confirms there is a difference in compound. I've always been dubious as regards the difference.

Go down tonight, key in...clickclickclickclick while the lights flash.

Literally everything points to the battery being poor causing it. Or short runs (and the dash cam being on all the time) possibly both.

Completely skint till next week so if a jump start doesn't sort out on Monday I guess I'll be walking to work till payday.
Jump start sorted it, gave it 15 mins at 1500rpm, seems much happier now.

M140i went in for a service today at Sandals BMW in Wakefield. Very happy with them and will use again. Black Friday discount meant that service was £560 instead of the £680 I was originally supposed to be paying which was nice! Also needed to have the drivers wiper arm adjusted as on full speed it started clipping the upright windscreen trim. Also started to get the dreaded exhaust flap rattle so was expecting some messing around from BMW/dealer but they just told me they'd ordered a new back box from Germany and the car will go back to have it replaced in a couple of weeks.

All in all a surprisingly pleasant experience.

No - not unless you have a Porsche extended warranty and don't want to risk jeopardizing it. Otherwise there is no point buying tyres based on an decade old design on the basis that Porsche may (or may not) have specified some slight tweaks to the design to make it suit their purposes. The modern tyre is still going to outperform it.

For a mid-engined Boxster there is particularly no reason as you couldn't even argue that Porsche might have stipulated changes to try and cater for some peculiarity that the manufacturer wouldn't adapt for, i.e. the odd weight distribution of a 911, for example.

330i is in the bodyshop. Nothing terrible - the wife nudged the front bumper a couple of years ago and deformed the plastic moulding. I didn't get round to repairing at the time as it wasn't that obvious and I was busy refreshing the chassis. However, the paint since has become very badly stonechipped as well so it's gone in to be tidied up.

I thought it would be a new bumper skin but they reckon they can save it and that it'll look just as good as new so fingers crossed.

Due to me being constantly annoyed at the bad visibility in modern cars compared to old (let’s ignored the roll over strength, safety, crushability factor  ) I fitted big wing mirrors to the Defender. It enabled me to sweep them back for extra speed yet still see far more 8-)

Also, another MOT pass with colours flying!!

Q7 mot, passed without issue, now 6 years old and 112,000 miles, still a long term keeper this car.

Lupo, still chasing my insurance company who are chasing the other party and her insurance company, it will go in my favour but it’s ball ache in the meantime.

Touareg. Bought some new wheels, new tyres (falken avensis 501 suv, extremely good), and lowered it of course. Also had the garage set the suspension to the same as the cayenne diesel and it drives a heck of a lot better. Only once seized bolt in the rear wishbone is stopping us fully adjusting it. Will try and get it resolved without having to buy a new wishbone, associated bushes and new bolts but I’m not quite sure how as once you start replacing bushes then you might as well do both sides.

Combo was fixed and is back with us since monday, The Subaru needed some heat to remove the plugs from the rear diff to change the oil (might have needed new plugs too, but I don't know yet as I haven't had the bill). Apart from that the interim service, washer change and MOT went fine. Still need to order the numberplate though, but it's only an advise at the moment.

Truck is in for the tailgate repair now so i'm in the Subaru for the commute for a few days so that should be entertaining, apart from the ramp out of the work carpark where the resultant hill start in traffic and the stage 1 clutch combine for a very ungraceful getaway.

Also on the truck front I have a new set of parking sensors to fit (this time rated for metal bumpers) as the last set which were less than £15 don't work in the metal bumper at all (although a similar set were fine in the navara's metal bumper for 4 years), these were considerably more expensive at £40 but as the holes are drilled and the cables run it's only a matter of taking of the rear bumper to fit and cable the sensors and to plug it all in, so should take less than 30 mins this time round. So these will hopefully get fitted at the weekend when we have it back.

Interesting. Have you got the comparative settings to hand ? I've still not had the front of mine set up properly after doing all the suspension work earlier this year.

I don’t sorry Steve, the tyre place I use has a John bean setup with 3D cameras and we inputted the car as v6 diesel cayenne with air springs, your V10 will obviously weigh more but the mid corner adjustment needed in corners has been eradicated and it feels a lot more planted and fluent in corners.
