Good Curry Houses
Re: Good Curry Houses
In and around Milton Keynes...
Maaya Indian Kitchen in the Hub - amazing food but a bit pricey
Kakori in Newport Pagnell - My local - solid curry house
Caclutta Brasserie in Stoney Stratford. Great food in an amazing location.
and now, one to avoid...
Lasan in Birmingham - Went because a mate (who watches all the cookery programs) knew the owner from "The Great British Menu" and wanted to try a posh Indian Meal. Really really really not worth the money - lots of deconstructed versions of classic "British" Indian meals which ended up watery and insipid.

Pfft, everyone knows the original Mother India on Westminster Terrace is better
Honorary mention to the Dhabba in the Merchant City too.
Edit: Not a traditional curry house, but Ranjit’s Kitchen in Pollokshields is also excellent.

Was in Dhabba last month - was far from crap.Maurice wrote: ↑Tue Nov 12, 2019 10:02 amPfft, everyone knows the original Mother India on Westminster Terrace is better

Also try ‘Mother India at the Lansdowne’ off GWR. Some of the Café dishes and some yummy Indonesian ones too for a bit of variety.

MIC. The Mother India restaurant on Westminster Terrace is great too.

I once went for a curry in Edinburgh at a place called Bay of Bengal.
I wrote a review on trip adviser that read 'Bay of bengal.....bay of bollocks more like' but it was never published. I was disappointed.

I'd rather cook my own.
9/10 are a disappointment and even the goods ones fail to be consistent

Edinburgh - Indian Calvery club. Also excellent
Edinburgh - Britania spice - utter shite
Edinburgh - The raj. Was always excellent but now closed down.
Edinburgh - Golden Amble. Excellent but they dont seem to have any heating in the resturaunt !
Glasgow - Mother india - Excellent.
Glasgow - Mother indias cafe - also excellent with the bonus aof tapas so you can try different stuff
Glasgow - Balbirs - Excellent
Local to me
Mussleburgh - The Ghurka - really good food and usually quiet to sit in.
Dalkeith - Bombay Lounge. Good but not excellent
Dalkeith - Ithiaas. REally good food but relitively expensive for the area. Edinburgh prices.
Loanhead - Radhuni - Excellent food everytime we've sat in. Bit far for takeaway reletive to my house though.

Re: Good Curry Houses
Is there a disproportionate number of Glasgow residents on here {me included} or are we learning that Glasgow has by some distance got the best curry in the UK?
Re: Good Curry Houses
The Khama Khazana in Kampala in Uganda is incredible, I have a recipe somewhere written down as I had the same meal twice a week for 12 weeks
The Jalsagor in Stamford is also great, really fresh food and good prices.
Our local in Market Deeping the Taj Mahal is great food but a bit crampt.
I will be having Indian on Thursday night now!!
Dave!

Loving the Edinburgh tips as we are there next month.
Sweet centre in Bradford I've been to a few times as used to work at low moor. Not what it was but lots of history.

Pink Olives in Orpington is very nice. Takeaway only, but hands down the best curry I've had in years! I've just finished mopping up the last of the sauce with the naan bread.

Another random one...
The Spice Restaurant in Biddeford. We go to North Devon a lot and a Takeaway from there is a bit of a tradition now. Always good. Very nice Restaurant too to sit in.

Just had chips and curry at Pizza Corolla in Weegieland and they were bloody lovely. The lady fires salt on like a cardiac assassin though!
Also witnessed deep fried battered pizza for the first time. WTAF??? It's like committing slow suicide
Went to Döner Haus again earlier (pre being pissed) and it was great. Curry wurst and chicken shawarma, washed down with Bitburger. Yummy!

Melbourne, VIC
Errm...
All poppadoms seem to be baked, not fried. Quite distressing.
I've mostly given up and have started to cook my own curries - I've had some very good results from here:
