The heat cycling over a long time eventually warps the box. 
Alfa 147's used to suffer with wet ECU's (well, and wet engines!) but they were 'locked' to the car so only brand new ones from Alfa would work. So when it was cutting out when I was turning, it was nothing to do with the engine being under load at low revs and the PAS pump throwing it all out - it was probably the water sloshing to one side in the box! That said, PAS reservoir was also getting low so that's been topped up as well.

Under the scuttle Simon. There's the adjacent drain holes taking most of the runoff but when googling it became clear that some screen and bonnet run off runs underneath the ecu box out of another drain hole. My Manual M140i averaged about 30mpg and the M2 26mpg which given the performance I think is ok.
Eco-Pro is awful so doesn't get used as the car feels broken. I use comfort for cruising on the m/way. I am a mahoosive juvenile though and can't resist squirting it at any given opportunity though. I like to use as much of the performance as I can when I get the opportunity to do so and I get lots of opportunities

They are a big step on from the MPSS. I haven't tried the PS4S only the PS4 and they are superior to those. I don't think I've been on the Selkirk to Moffat road, but whenever I head up to Edinburgh I always go via Moffat up the A701. A great little road
