Randomness
Re: Randomness
That's how you do a 911
Re: Randomness
If a 30 odd tonne truck can stop like that why don't cars have similar tech? I'm aware some cars have auto braking but it still uses the cars normal braking system, not the huge stopping power those things have.

Re: Randomness
The ultimate stopping power of a car is limited by the tyres, abs gets pretty much as close as you can get to that.Zonda_ wrote: Sun May 20, 2018 6:42 pm If a 30 odd tonne truck can stop like that why don't cars have similar tech? I don't quite know what other magical braking system you would like to see? Maybe a parachute or a big metal spike strip to wedge into the tarmac?

Cheers, Harry

The offending vehicle wasn't going there

I hope I'm never in a situation where a lorry needs to brake like that but I'm happy they can

Re: Randomness
Looking at other videos showing those emergency braking systems abs doesn’t come close. The trucking the video posted stops comparatively slowly.integrale_evo wrote: Sun May 20, 2018 8:32 pmThe ultimate stopping power of a car is limited by the tyres, abs gets pretty much as close as you can get to that.Zonda_ wrote: Sun May 20, 2018 6:42 pm If a 30 odd tonne truck can stop like that why don't cars have similar tech? Re: Randomness
Trucks have huge brakes, lots of them, and lots of tyres, with lots of weight pushing them into the road. Stopping them isn’t a problem. Stopping them without jacknifing is hard.Zonda_ wrote: Sun May 20, 2018 6:42 pm If a 30 odd tonne truck can stop like that why don't cars have similar tech?
