And those clutch slave cylinders are utter pigs to bleed even before reducing clearances to 5/8ths of fukall.

I don’t know about the more modern truck engines but a Cummins 6BT, the greatest diesel of all time, is around 500kg for a 160hp model. Very easy to get 300hp from though.

Bonnet release was very clever, but I think I would have just attached a solenoid on the underside of the slam panel and run a couple of wires to it.

I was strangely fascinated by the dual function headlight switch, would make adding a feed for an extra set of main beam driving lights very neat and oem without having to tap into the normal high beam feed. Wonder if any hondas used the separate main and dip setup or they just added it to the switch when designing it just in case they wanted to use that method later on.

Great episode, but the bonnet catch could've should've been solved by having a long cable that went to the chassis side of the front clam hinge (or even inside it if it's a tube) then up to the bonnet catch. That way when the clam tips forward the cable just 'bends' at the clam hinge, IYSWIM?

I thought that was how they'd do the bonnet catch, but it's not just hinged, IIRC, it's quick demountable. So I particularly like the way there is nothing to detach to get in the way of demounting it.

With the added drivetrain gubbins and the sheer amount of steel they've used I'll go for 50% more than the standard car. Call it somewhere between 950-1,100 kg.

I'll go for 1050kg. The other 4wd turbocharged rally cars were all around 12-1300kg in normal road trim and were a lot bigger than a mini.

Yes they've added a lot of steel, but the standard subframes and cast iron a-series lump are surprisingly heavy.

Little bit disappointed that they are shooting for 'only' 200-ish, given the lack of space for a reasonably-sized turbo. Hopefully they aren't really going to fit what looked like a marginally more modern Subaru turbo, and it will actually be something like a GTX-series. I think the headifold will likely mean a little extra lag until the turbine spins up and the gasses know where to go.
