Do you have to run it in or can you rag straight away?
Yeah, NCGs dribble that about non V12 Ferraris too.
yep, they aren’t real Porsche’s either.
Rev doesn't believe in running an engine in. He'll be bouncing it off the limiter out of the garage car parkunzippy wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 3:30 am Happy days![]()

At least if it blows up there, it won't need towing back. Can just push it the 100yds.
I don't believe in gentle running in, I do believe in letting the engine and oil warm up. Besides, it doesn't need any running in.
Ah.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Aug 15, 2019 10:19 pmExactly my thinking, plus what OC said. It’ll be fixed for less than £2k. On a car where a set of tyres is £750, it’s nothing really.Simon wrote: Thu Aug 15, 2019 9:49 pm Sod it, so I guess that's around £1500-£1800 all in? So you're £10k into the car. Still peanuts for a 996 really.
£3k was my call - I’m guessing the bill was plus VAT - though was that all in with the £600 head?
Bottom of market for a 996 must have a similar expectation of a blow up and rebuild in a similar timescale to Rev's car. I'd definitely have been more confident in my Boxster if it had had a strip down and rebuild in my care.Beany wrote: Fri Sep 06, 2019 9:33 am Sounds like a pretty good thing overall - you've still basically paid (all in) bottom of the market prices, but it sounds like now the car should be just be 'servicing and fuel' for a good few years.
For 30-odd hours work, including taking the engine out, a new head and chains etc, it seems alright. Especially if you trust them.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2019 9:07 pm OK, final bill is in. £3200. I don’t think that’s bad at all for everything they’ve done. A little more than I’d hoped but not far off and they’ve done a comprehensive job.
