I think that’s including. Paid £600 for the head, the towing was free after the “dropping it off the trailer” incident.Rich B wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 4:07 pm£50/hour is cheap, Does that include VAT? (Why the fuck do garages always quote costs to normal punters not including VAT!?)NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 3:52 pm Final bill still being added up, but labour is "just over the 30 hours mark" at £50 per hour. Add the valve seat work to that, pullies, a drive belt, cam chain guides, oil filler tube, clips, fluids etc. and I guess were somewhere around £2k? I'll know for sure in the morning.
How much have you paid already - The head, any towing, etc... Anything under £3k I reckon you’ve done well.

That's very cheap ! My Tuna (Northway) is £75+VAT.
When mine blows up it'll be worth trailering it north and having a week's holiday while I'm there.

OK, final bill is in. £3200. I don’t think that’s bad at all for everything they’ve done. A little more than I’d hoped but not far off and they’ve done a comprehensive job.

yeah, I think that’s pretty decent - the bill for repairing the wife’s 320 gearbox was more than that for instance.NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 9:07 pm OK, final bill is in. £3200. The guy doing the work says the rest of the car is sound. Says the suspension set up is spot on, one of the best he’s driven and the engine feels strong after the work. He’s confirmed all the upgraded Hartech bits and reckons it should give years of good service. He told me today he’s thrown new cam chains in it too.

Never good to have unexpected bills, but the total cost including purchase price....I'd still count it as a decent result.NotoriousREV wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 9:07 pm OK, final bill is in. £3200. Nice touch Rev. I don't think that's too bad. £11500 for a not so shonky old Porker that should last quite some time is fucking great in my book.

He was telling me he’s got a Boxster 2.5 in that’s destroyed the cat and sucked it in through the exhaust ports on the overrun (reversion) and destroyed both heads. Makes mine look very cheap!

Is the 3200 including the head?

Having a specialist you feel you can trust, and has a passion for what they do is epic. The Porsche specialist I used to take the 944S2 to (Peter McAnna at Motortune) was first class.
