Bottle it and send it to Mik. He'll be hard pushed to tell the difference!
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
What lids you all got? My Arai hasnt been worn a tremendous amount but they say to replace them every 7 years .... its a bit over that so best stick it on a shelf.

Shoei Neotec 2 - awesome
Shoei GT Air - awesome without a flip up front.
GT Air 2 has more awesome I think.

Ive a RX7gp and its been fantastic altho noisy - the new ones are bloody expensive.
Been to the shop and looked at Shoeis today. Didnt see a RF1200 but did try on a GT Air in large (last one they had) and it was very snug way too small and the GT 2 Air which was too big in Large - weird. Girl was very helpful and said theyd get me one ordered to exact size and match any price.
How do you find the flip down sunvisor - I am used to black visors as dont ride at night unless by accident

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
I have a flip down sun visor in my Schuberth and I’ll never have a lid without one now.

Photochromic visor in mine, love it.
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
My last two have been shoei neotecs and I'll keep on using them until someone else makes a flip front helmet that works, fits me and doesn't look totally shit.
The cost of a decent helmet is ridiculous though. £600 now. For a polystyrene hat.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
My daily Shoei GT Air is due replacement, not sure if I want the new model or not, but I did find the same size difference when I tried one.
Drop down visor essential for me, takes the edge of early morning and evening low sun, useful in general sunny weather.

This might seem a random thing to post but it contains some info relevant to the discussion;
Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
He doesn't explain why helmets have increased levels but I will say that I lift the visor on mine as often as I can, mine has a chin curtain and I don't like how stuffy it gets. I don't like the turbulence without it either..
I should have more plants indoors though, I'm just too lazy to keep on top of the watering

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Maybe a helmet can't change the air inside as quickly as we breath, so a build up occurs.
I try to keep windows open at home to have some movement of air, but that's not always effective or possible.

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Yeah, I normally have the visor open a few mm for airflow and my HJC has three decent vents at the chin. It does feel a little more stuffy, when I have to have them all closed, when it's less than 10°c

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
Hmm - not convinced. There's enough vents on a decent helmet (chin, forehead and back on mine) for there to be a whirlwind going on in there most of the time, and your mouth, chin curtain or otherwise, is only a few cm from all of the air available in the world

Re: The Motorbikerist Thread
I can feel the airflow in my lid as it comes in through the chin vent, over my eyebrows and out the top vent. I don’t close the vents in winter, I just use my Buff neck tube as a balaclava. I need the airflow to prevent my glasses steaming up.

Made winter riding comfortable. Best £20 I ever spent (I got the Arctic version)
