Tough decision to make today after several parcels arrived at the same time. Do I re-dye my seats/steering wheel/knob or do I replace the whining accessory drive idlers? Haven’t got time for both. I’m thinking the seats are less physical work in this heat.

I went with dyeing the leather. Just waiting for the first coat to dry before going in with a heavier 2nd coat. Seat looks better, but the steering wheel looks like it will come out brilliantly.

Re: the steering wheel - had you cleaned it at all beforehand? I only ask as I used plain soap and a wet rag last week and it was astounding the difference even just using that made. Shinyness reduced massively, and marks all gone.

Autoglym Interior Shampoo and a melamine sponge. Didn’t even need to scrub, just a gentle wipe clears up the skid marks.

It's just clicked that you're talking about a 'magic eraser sponge', which I've seen referred to in a lot of interior cleaning vids, with nice results.

I'm tempted to get some for a few jobs around the car - steering wheel, and also various bits of interior trim that have that rubberised coating that eventually peels off; pop the trim out, clean it off, plastidip, refit.

I Plastidipped the interior trim on one of my E46s to good effect.

It’s the factory Graphite Grey plus 20 years of fading, wear and previous application of various products.

On my E46 Compact I did most of the trims with some cheap carbon-effect vinyl. It wasn't going to fool anyone but it looked a lot better than the tatty original finish.

Yes, easy to do to, dries very quickly and seemed quite scratch resistant.
