I bought a smaller 5in backing pad and set of hex foam pads for cheap off amazon to add to it to get me started. Should make it easier to get into the curves and less likely to bog the machine down than the big pad supplied with it.

A set of small 3 inch pads are worth having too, my brother needed them for his s2k he said.

Yeah, I'll probably add some of those too, just wanted to make sure I'd picked the right thread for the pad before ordering loads of stuff.

I keep saying it, but the Bora has to go. I just can't decide on a daily to replace it. Swinging between cheap 125/130i's, or spending a bit more on a little city car like an Up GTi, right across to 159 TBi's or even Brera S's. Then I realise that I hate buying cars and I can't be bothered. Then I start dreaming of plan B and I'm straight on PH looking at ExigeS's.

If anyone's looking at selling anything mildly intersting, sub-£10k (lower the better), with 4 seats, and not ruinous to run (both tax, MPG and repairs) then give me a nudge.

What SJ said. I'd recommend an E46 325ti but they're getting on a bit now so the 125/130i is the logical answer. Even the 116d courtesy car I had for a couple of weeks (back in 2010) was really nice to drive, so much so that I took it out just for pleasure.

Mk6 GTIs are in scope for that kind of money. Admittedly a close relative of the Bora, but should be interesting and not horrendous on running costs.

Well I went for a Megane in these circumstances, which is ace. But I'm only using it to drive to/from the station - albeit that's a nice little blast a couple of times a day, not just a mile up the road. Wanna buy my Megane (just serviced and MOT'd) so I can go look for something else?

Probab,y something small and nippy that Mrs Mad will drive. Which sadly won't be a classic 911, small as they are, more likely a Citigo is looking favourite (rather than an Up!, just to get 3 Skodas on the drive )

I'm no BMW fan, aside from the MCoupe. The 1-series appeals because 6cyl cars that aren't barges are rare, and others (like 147GTA, GolfR32 etc) are fuel and tax monsters, the 1-series is less tax than my Bora, and almost as economical.

For clarity, I like buying cars, I just don't like the buying process. I've got absolutely no time for car dealers, most are greasy, smarmy bullshitters. Then you've got private sellers who completely misrepresent their cars. I find as I get older, and more miserable, my tolerance levels are getting thinner and I've got no time for it.

I just want to point at a car on AT/PH, and have it arrive on my doorstep, as described. Is that too much to ask?!

I’m wondering if the E92 M3 Is now reaching that “enthusiast” owner stage where normal people don’t really use them for daily driving so they’ll start to become a less common sight. Over the last week I’ve had two thumbs up from other drivers - one in an e90 M3 then today from an M2.

I used to get it loads of it in my old e30 325i sport and e46 M3, this is the first time I’ve had it in the e92 though.

Just had a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 supersports put on the rear this afternoon so will figure it again this week. Time was pretty decent to say how much wheel spin there was at launch and then again in 2nd gear.
