To be frank, I'd rather you bought a Final Ed. CLS 350 at £6k

I agree with Nath on this, they seem like very dull choices (though I do like the look of the new V90 Volvos).

Isn't an A4 too small for your needs Simon?

Apart from the fact that they’re called Grand Editions and the one I posted was £8k, good work. I do like them.

This is a lease deals thread, not a car choice thread, so I’m going to choose what I want irrespective of your preference 😄

No, an A4 is fine for me.

When buying cars, just apply the simple WWND test - What Would Nathan Do?

Sorted.

Turns out the A4 Avant deal isn't real - it's over £500 a month in fact, and there's a 6 month delivery time (which I could have lived with - though since Audi have suspended production of A6s with the same engine, that could easily be pushed back so maybe not). Anyway, it's not the deal quoted so I obviously wasn't going for it.

Found a tempting deal on a Volvo V90 Cross Country Pro T6. It's the 310bhp petrol; seems to have a limited top speed but 0-60 in 6.0s and decent economy from the correct fuel, plenty of kit as standard. It's also in stock so I can have it delivered as soon as my Allroad goes. I'll decide tonight and order tomorrow :)

Well that came around quickly!

Did you know you can get the new E class in e400 (diseasal) form? It's not on the configurator yet (because that's offline) but is in the brochure if you download it.

Have you had the Audi 24 months, Simon - or was the lease shorter than that?

24 months, almost - it arrived on 7 July 2016. I'm away for about 3 weeks with the wedding and honeymoon so need to sort something out.

Have remembered that the T6 has both a turbo and supercharger so it's a bit interesting, not just a comfy barge. And, amazingly, the V90 is a few mm smaller in every dimension (externally) than the A6; that's a surprise. The A6 is a really nice thing to drive; unlike the F11 5-series it shrinks around you and doesn't feel nearly as big as it is.

I love the looks of the new Volvos. When you say tempting, is it <£350/month or am I in dreamland?

A little more, £395 for the Cross Country T6 (3+23) or £380ish for a D5 AWD R-Design which I'm also considering.

FWIW, I was pondering a 10yr old Lexus RX350 for about £5-6k, but there really is very little want for that  I'd rather spend the extra and have a new, rather lovely thing that I want on the drive.

Gone for the Cross Country T6. Should be delivered in the last couple of weeks of June (it's in stock so it's more a case of me tying in the return of my Allroad). Slightly more expensive per month than the D5 or my Allroad but much lower pence per mile excess mileage (9.5p inc VAT for the first 5000 miles over, then ~12p per mile) and I doubt I'll be quite so far over anyway. Back to petrol for me; it might have 310bhp but I do wonder whether the low-down torque of the Audi has spoiled me.

Do you have a computer generated image of the wheel and interior/exterior colour combo?

295 lb ft at 2.2k rpm shouldn't feel too weedy!

Does it have air sus like the allroad? And will the wheels remain horizontally central to the arches when in off road mode?

I'd love to hear the leasing company's response to that question if you asked them. "Errrrmmm...... let me check that and come back to you. *rustles* Hey Diane - that nutcase is back on line two again...".

I can find real images (not of my actual car, but the spec isn't that obscure):

There's no raising and lowering as with the A6 Allroad, though I think there's rear air suspension for self-levelling.

295lb ft at 2,200rpm is ok but my Audi has 427lb ft at 1,500rpm. However, I hear the Volvo makes a rather amusing noise from the supercharger and exhaust when ragging it, while being quiet otherwise. I do have a suspicion it'll be like my 535i; quick enough but never feeling massively muscular.
