Your fleet running reports
Re: Your fleet running reports
Ex-wife had a 2003 2.0 Golf from new. I’d like to say it was just the engine that was shite but the rest of the car wasn’t up to much either.
Re: Your fleet running reports
New AC Compressor and top timing chain tensioner fitted on the Navara. The mechanic also noted that as well as the adjuster on the belt tensioner being broke and a pain to adjust it also appears bent so is making the belts groan. I've ordered a replacement for it. Once that's done only left needing a new set of injectors. Keeping it then as its pretty much got new everything apart from bottom end!

New (ok, ex Ginetta series test session) PS3s fitted to the Fabia (15"). Slicks fitted to the 14" wheels. Tyre fitting/balancing of the 8 tyres cost more than the 8 tyres!
Left over crest; tightens.

Question for the car flippers here - is it worth repairing some shabby paintwork and replacing a few damaged badges when selling a car? Obviously it gives the other party something to try and haggle an unreasonable amount over so wondering if it’s ‘cheaper’ to spend a few hundred fixing it.
How about not having a sig at all?

depends on the car..Mito Man wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 12:11 pm Question for the car flippers here - is it worth repairing some shabby paintwork and replacing a few damaged badges when selling a car? Knowing how expensive my local approved body centre Chartwells can be (though fabulous quality), I've come to the conclusion that a few stone chips add character and that a Porsche without them is either unregistered or effete!Foz wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 12:28 pmdepends on the car..Mito Man wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 12:11 pm Question for the car flippers here - is it worth repairing some shabby paintwork and replacing a few damaged badges when selling a car? It’s for the i3 where the crap eco paint which has lacquer peel on some spots on the front bumper where birds relieved themselves.

Research has shown that birds relieve themselves more frequently on i3s as they find their appearance alarming. True story.Mito Man wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 1:06 pm It’s for the i3 where the crap eco paint which has lacquer peel on some spots on the front bumper where birds relieved themselves.

I won't be buying one any time soon, but if the truth be known they are probably my weird car crush.Mito Man wrote: Thu Jun 27, 2019 1:19 pmThat’s no way to speak about a carbon fibre monocoque, RWD, rear engine, planet saving tree hugging car.

Re: Your fleet running reports
They’re solid cars and pretty quirky and the new sport ones look pretty cool like they’re pumped on steroids imo. Wouldn’t be surprised if they end up as a cult car in 15 years.

Re: Your fleet running reports
What is the battery deg like? Will they still be usable in 15 years?
Re: Your fleet running reports
Yes, granted it may only have 20 miles of range by then
I’m sure third party companies will start to move in to provide replacements by then though. Only reason we don’t know anything about replacement pricing is because they’re all still covered by the warranty.

Volvo seems to be run in now. Economy has improved to the point I got 31mpg today over 260 miles of motorway, looping up to Birmingham, down to Heathrow and back down the M4. Christ the 50 limit goes on forever up to and past Reading; must be 20 miles.

Re: Your fleet running reports
Managed to hit a deer. Thankfully doesn't seem to have done any damage.
Spotted it out of the corner of my eye while doing 60ish, by the time I had worked out what it was and that it was going to cross my path I anchored on, missed it, eased off the brake as it had made it to the side of the road before it changed its mind and came back in front of me.
Boinked it over at about 10mph. It rolled over a couple of times in front of me before getting up and trotting off, narrowly avoiding a motorbike coming the other way
Quick look with a torch and all looks ok, even the flimsy headlight washer covers and chrome grille slats.
Was a proper size one, not a silly little muntjac

Lucky for all concerned

Re: Your fleet running reports
Funny, I was driving in Richmond park a few hours ago, a few deer got spooked by a dog and they all charged across the road narrowly avoiding me and a bunch of cyclists coming the other way. They have recently given birth so get spooked easily, a friend got his dog trampled by one over there last week!

Re: Your fleet running reports
This.
Thanks to getting a bit carrier away with homelab shenanigans - I am easily entertained by my own shenanigans, I'll admit - I ended up going out to get dinner at half past midnight. Oops.
And thanks to some cheeky asian lads, I know that my car is a bit quicker up to 70 than a four up S3 convertible. Because the driver saw me, asked if my car was fast, I said only with the roof down (as I had, cos why not?) so he dropped his roof and gave it some welly off the lights, although neither of us launched it hard.
So overall, a fun night.
Re: Your fleet running reports
I've started to get lads wanting to "Race" all of a sudden - normally when I'm, ahem, hurrying back home with a Ruby...
I think this has less to do with the performance of the car (255hp RWD = adequate only) and more to do with the lairy color scheme. It's basically this car...

It's refreshing as I haven't had that for a while, probably since the R32
