My kids don't get pocket money but they probably should so I was wondering what others do in this regard please?

7 and 10 so presumably a wee bit more to my eldest?

Kids have jobs to do like cleaning out the kitty litter and feeding pets if they remember those and don't do stupid stuff like leave their lights on all day they get a couple of pounds a week. They're 10 & 7.

Pocket money for completed little tasks or improved school grades is the way to go. An expectation of money for nothing every week sets them up for a future life on the sausage!

A4 list of general chores (Hoover rooms, wash up, feed dog etc) = £5 week . Bonus( if previous completed) and they do 2 hours outside exercise Saturday and Sunday = £5. Since we've done this the house is spotless and they spend less time inside - result

£5 per week if she does a few chores and behaves.

I never got pocket money and had jobs from about 10.

Taught me that I’d rather be skint than work a lot, don’t think that’s the lesson they were going for but here we are .

You should get them to do tasks, and reward them pro rata.

Then at some random point have a market crash, make them redundant and force them to live in a ditch.

What do young children do with their pocket money, other than that strange thing they do where they brag as to how much money they have - “at home, I’ve actually got £15, MUM. And you owe me another £5, don’t you?”

Chores and good behaviour pay for his Laptop and Xbox time.

I pay him £5 per goal for his football team to let him save up for things. He gets sent money all the time from aunts and uncles so he never really needs regular money to be able to save up for a new football or as a "Top-up" for new Trainers (we set a reasonable cost limit but he's allowed to add his own money to get a better pair etc.)

Him being an only child helps...
