Fair logic Matt, and yeah - all prices are holding up well (helped by Loltus hiking the price of new cars significantly I am sure) which is great if selling - not so awesume if buying / upgrading.

Ever driven Maurice's Exige? What did you think, vs the Evora?

Although it has been offered - no - never driven. several p-rides though : in pretty much every respect it is like the Evora turned up to 12. Absolutely rabid things, but undeniably more extreme / compromised than the Evora.

I loved my brief Evora experience and did briefly look at them before buying a Renault for 1/3 of the price. I don’t think a 2+2 Evora (or 911) would be any less practical than the Megane.

Edit - interesting to read on TLS forum that both a 410 and a 400 owner (the latter being the one who owned my car before) both seem to suggest they preferred their old S1 NA's.

Not massively so. I'm just incredibly, overly paranoid about mine, so small, pokey car parts give me door ding anxiety. Plus the doors+sills are massive, you need a good 4 foot gap just to crawl out. Not sure how a 911 compares in that regard.

I thought the Megane doors were the longest in the world. I get car park paranoia too but I've started driving to a station every day. Handily they have some spaces which seem to be almost normal size, plus a few diagonal ones so you're less likely to get a ding. I have a couple on the passenger side though, not sure where from

Yeah drive a 400. Andy has spent so many years fiercely arguing that the NA is the best Evora that he can't back down now without destroying all credibility - even after buying a 410.

I dont really want to try and paraphrase him, but RobYob has implied before that the input/ strength of voice from the vehicle dynamics team may have been a little higher on the S1 models (NA and S) than the 4xx cars

Out of interest - what are his plans for it ?

He has an e91 as a daily so is hoping to use the compact as a toy / weekend car / cheap to run trackday car which is pretty cool.

Said he'd been to look at several and they were all bodged up scrappers and couldn't believe how tight mine drove, which is nice to hear from someone else about something you have set up to your personal liking.

Had a great drive following a Mini One going very briskly for 20 minutes. Pretty evenly matched against my Mito and about as fast as you could go on B roads without being dangerous. Great fun hitting the limiter in the first 3 gears.
Looking online they have 102 bhp so a smidge more but a pretty low amount for a £16,000 car?
I think driving the i3 for the past week and 200 miles made me appreciate an engine and gearbox and grip more than normal

Cleared out the boot last night, as the tyre fitter - months ago hadn't put the spare wheel back in the right way so none of the panels fitted properly etc.

Found a couple of litres of water in the spare wheel well probably from the last time it leaked. Fine.

Tried to scoop out the water with a jug, no joy, too shallow. So, half a dozen old microfibres, to soak, and wring. And soak and wring. And soak.....

Anyway, about ten runs of that later, it was dry, everything back in as it should be, and I feel a bit better about the world.

Couldn't find a drain plug in the boot, annoyingly, which would have made things easier. There were some rubber bungs but they didn't seem to drain anything when removed, ahem, fingers crossed they didn't lead anywhere important. I'm sure it'll be fine

I was yes, 7 times in race 1 and similar in race 2, even ended up
Short shifting and completely cruising round, gutted again as I was on for podiums potentially again in both races with great starts, again!

Try and work up to temp ASAP, they are great but finding the limit can be expensive

I hated these when they first came out. I remember test driving the 2.0 petrol and being astonished at just how boring and shit it was to drive.

Credit where it's due though. This old smoker has 210k miles on it and EVERYTHING works as it should. Still feels solid, brisk enough, steering feels a lot better than I remember too.

I quite fancy one tbh.

The 2.0 petrol is dire though, so that doesn't help at all. I've got the Bora with the 2.0, and it's a decent daily hack save for the engine. Should imagine it's a much better drive with a bit more balls to it.

Can't complain about mine for A-to-B. Boring to drive, but they're solid and well built. Most of them leak like a cullender though, mine included.
