Local car, private sale, prev owner 7 years, lots of bits done, 80k miles, £1750. I didn’t even bother haggling. It’s far better than the others we saw at dealers for £3k+.

It’s not fast but it’s very pleasant to drive. I’m quite chuffed.

On Friday it was still a whim, and kicking tyres at dealers is good for narrowing down exactly what you’re looking for. I don’t like wasting real people’s time.

We looked at one at “Mrs Mini” which was quite nice and I would have gone for it if this hadn’t been for sale. This one’s better than I was expecting so when we saw it in the metal I jumped at it.

It will be doing its first Autosolo next month 8-) That will highlight anything that needs fixing !!

Yep. We now have eight cars

I know you always spot more of a particular car when they're on your mind but MINIs seem to be ridiculously common. In the eleven minutes between home & motorway I saw fourteen. I gave up counting. There must have been another dozen after that so we're in the region of thirty during my daily commute !

You must be filling up that drive now and looking like the local car dealer!

I keep looking at Saab 9-3 Convertibles, I know the Mrs would love a vert and they are dirt cheap like the Mini (even in 210bhp 2.0 Aero Spec that I'd want and I'd want to drive it from time to time), but we'd need to extend our drive onto the front lawn first.....

Nice. 8-) How far over the windscreen does your head poke up?

Is it a Cooper?

I vote for one of the project cars. Or the E46.

Yeah, the drive is getting a bit full. The fact that Compact #2 is up on axle stands with no front end or engine adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the place

Anyway, go ahead and get the ‘vert. They’re fun for pootling around in the summer. My wife’s MINI might be about as manly as JL’s sofa but I’m really enjoying it.

Jimmy - not a Cooper, just a boggo ONE, but that’s what we wanted. Cheap & cheerful ! And I fit into it just fine. It would be nice if the steering wheel had reach as well as rake but I can cope as-is.

Kind of gutted to be honest, just when I'd got it pretty much exactly how I wanted it.

Given infinite time and space I would have kept it forever and probably have stuck a 6pot in at some point.

Circumstances change and I've got too many projects already not getting done and as a spare car it's the most obvious to get rid of first.

E46 will be next.
