This is about where I am. It couldn't even hold my full attention from pram shopping.

It still grates that they have Paddy and Flintoff, who have no history at all in automotive journalism. I'm bored of hearing 'yeah but it's an entertainment show, not a car show', when all 3 of Clarkson, May and Hammond were automotive journalists, had done car TV at various times and knew a decent amount about cars to not need to seem fed information.

The "it's an entertainment show not a car show, yeah but it's based on cars, yeah but it's an entertainment show not a car show, yeah but it's based on cars, yeah but it's an entertainment show not a car show, yeah but it's based on cars, yeah but it's an entertainment show not a car show, yeah but it's based on cars, yeah but" etc argument makes me want to CRANE KICK BABIES IN THE FACE.

Exactly. It literally is the cornerstone of shit people of car forums. Who the fuck argues about what a show actually is?!! It's exactly as each individual chooses to interpret it. Now move the fuck on before any more infants get kicked. 😂

I thought it was good. They seemed to keep the studio bits snappy so they weren't uncomfortable or boring. The dynamic worked. I think the format is formulaic now but they've shoe-horned the right people in, which for a line-up seemingly chosen from names picked out of a hat, surprised me.

And of course it gives monkey a vehicle and a big budget to do road tests (even if the content will be a bit watered down compared to the CHOC yootoob version) so I guess we should be thankful for that.

The wife's first comment was that the banter didn't seem as forced as it has done in the past. And there's obviously been a conscious decision to leave some stuff (bantz) in that they might previously have cut to give it a more relaxed feel.

Definitely a promising start and the other pair clearly love cars and are natural in front of the camera.
Cheers,

Mike.

Jobbo is correct.

I'd say it was about 4 Steve Berry saying Doo-KAT-ees out of 5.

NNNNnnnnnnggggg

The Rochdale accent gets my teeth on edge and I just can't listen to Steve Berry for even a nano-second. Thankfully neither McGuinness (Bolton) or Flintoff (Preston) sounds anything like him.

Sadly, these southern pansies lack our connoisseurs ear for northern accents and will undoubtedly think they all sound the same.

Seems to be they have done away with the Extra Gear thing altogether now? I thought they were keeping Rory on to do that? Maybe he told them to FRO?

Didn't go looking for it, but the TV guide claimed it was available via the iPlayer.

I wondered whether Extra Gear was where the 488 Pista lap was.

You *do* all sound the same, though. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to enjoy a cucumber sandwich and drink a half of lager shandy.
