Exactly as expected here too, that doesn't make it any more palatable.Rich B wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:59 pmwhat did you expect? It’s exactly as I did and I know nothing about politics!Barry wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 2:53 pm BoJo in the lead as replacement. God help us.

Also a good chance he'll poison the conservative election chances for the next decade after the debacle that this has been over the last few years.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 3:01 pm BoJo is exactly who we need in charge at this point. He's utterly ineffectual, Brexit will fail under his leadership.
Which means Labour would have a 7% chance of getting elected into power off their own backs, eh?

Did you know Rory's real first name is Rod? True story.

Rory almost seemed human compared to the other candidates, still quite unsettling though.
Of course it's going to be Boris though, we need our very own Trump to drag us further in to the cesspit we're sliding into.

So Esther McVey's bitch argument with lovable TV personality Lorraine Kelly didn't get her into the second round in the Tory leadership contest? My god, I am shocked

Pretty sure I read something the other day that said, according to polls (so pretty meaningless these days!), Corbyn was still considered less palatable than ANY of the Cons leadership candidates in terms of the job of PMBeany wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 3:28 pmAlso a good chance he'll poison the conservative election chances for the next decade after the debacle that this has been over the last few years.NotoriousREV wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 3:01 pm BoJo is exactly who we need in charge at this point. He was tied with Gove but yes, lost to everyone else. Though clearly the "don't knows" accounted for a significant proportion for some of the lesser known tory leadership candidates.

What do the Tories hope to achieve by putting Boris in power? Most of the countries that we're going to have to try and form trade deals with when this whole sorry mess goes through see him for the absolute lying clown that he is, how is he going to be able to negotiate anything, I don't get it.

He’s an unprincipled, self serving buffoon.
The hard brexit types know he’ll go along with them throwing the economy down the shitter so they can skim the money off the top.

Re: Bye bye Theresa
Maybe but most predictions say he'll lose his seat at the next election which surely won't be far away so where does that leave them?ZedLeg wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:42 pm He’s an unprincipled, self serving buffoon.

Re: Bye bye Theresa
Nobody has any current prospect of winning the next election. The Tories choosing Boris are maximising their chance of hanging onto power because he’s popular, simple as that.
Re: Bye bye Theresa
I don't think he's anywhere near as popular as he used to be, too much has been brought out about him.

No one appears to care. Gove admits to drug use and it's seen as damaging. Boris admits it and it's BAU. He's Trumpian in his ability to shrug off things that would have killed other political careers many years ago.

Perhaps he doesn't have to be. Just more popular than Corbyn. Only just achievable for the Maybot in 2017 but definitely possible for Boris.Zonda_ wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:51 pm I don't think he's anywhere near as popular as he used to be, too much has been brought out about him.

That's probably because Gove on coke makes people draw parallels with Patrick BatemanNotoriousREV wrote: Thu Jun 13, 2019 6:53 pm No one appears to care. Re: Bye bye Theresa
WTF is BJ thinking of, offering to move the 40% tax band up to £80k? Yes, fiscal drag had historically brought many more into the 40% band than was originally intended, but the Torys made efforts to fix that with the manifesto pledge and subsequent implementation of the move to £50k. Moving it to £80k is crazy. Sure, a lot of us would be better off to the tune of £500 a month, but who can hand on heart say they need it more than the country? It's not like the public finances are in a great shape is it?
