On the basis of that I think Harris and Paddy will be ok and Freddie will be awful.

Re: Top Gear
I just saw them on The One Show. I missed the 52 bit, but I noticed that the details were handwritten on the back of his card so I guess it was S2 and looked like 52. Didn't see any writing on the back of the other ones... maybe Freddie is the only one that can't handle an autocue.

Re: Top Gear
I generally don’t like paddy and find him just unfunny and thought flintoff might have been a bit more of a car guy. I’ll give it the season to be fair to it and then draw a conclusion. If they bond well and don’t usurp Harris (he’s worked hard to get where he is and isn’t just some hired gun) they might just make it.duncs500 wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 8:13 pm I just saw them on The One Show. Nah, he was showing a viewer's picture of their 944 'vert. Definitely wasn't a turbo.Rich B wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 7:52 pmslim chance he could have been being Uber geeky about a turbo S, but unlikely...NotoriousREV wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 7:30 pm Paddy, Harris and the other one were just on The One Show to promote the new series.
Now, to be fair, they were funny, but it’s obvious it’s just going to be dicking about, and maybe some cars. The other one (I can’t remember his name, cricketer fella) just talked about a Porsche 944 Fifty Two. I think he meant S2...

Re: Top Gear
Didn’t see The One Show but unless Flintoff is a serious CG or has his own USP then I predict he’s going to bomb, he just doesn’t seem naturally funny at all.
Re: Top Gear
I think this line up could be ok, but I can’t see it being the global success it was before
Paddy and Freddie both have great presenting experience. Freddie, being a sportsman, will have the competitive desire to always win. Paddy will be funny. And Chris can be the car guy.
Makes sense to me
I don’t think I’ll like it though

Re: Top Gear
That's rather optimistic.
Re: Top Gear
I think he’ll bring the same persona as league of their own, so should work in some way, as he’ll just take the piss out of the others240PP wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 10:18 pm Didn’t see The One Show but unless Flintoff is a serious CG or has his own USP then I predict he’s going to bomb, he just doesn’t seem naturally funny at all.

I agree. I listen to the Flintoff, Savage and the ping pong guy podcasts and he's great fun. Lots of fucking around and piss taking.jamcg wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 12:21 pmI think he’ll bring the same persona as league of their own, so should work in some way, as he’ll just take the piss out of the others240PP wrote: Tue Jun 04, 2019 10:18 pm Didn’t see The One Show but unless Flintoff is a serious CG or has his own USP then I predict he’s going to bomb, he just doesn’t seem naturally funny at all.

Re: Top Gear
In other Top Gear news, I spotted TOP 634R on a silver Range Rover in Belper, Derbyshire earlier this week. It was quite old (from my limited knowledge of Range Rovers) so could suit be used dicking around on the new series, but I didn't see who was with it.

Radio presenting is not the same as TV presenting though. I think Freddie will be fairly cr4p.McSwede wrote: Wed Jun 05, 2019 12:31 pmI agree. Re: Top Gear
Just watching the prelim for Sunday's adventure.
It's got a rusty, shonky old Mk2 Escort going sideways and racing a Mini and Boxster through the Ethiopian desert so I'll be watching
At least until the piano lands.....

Re: Top Gear
I think it was twitter where I saw someone asking just how much the missing steak has ended up costing the Beeb in the long run in terms of global revenue from the show and brand?
Is Top Gear still as popular abroad since Clarkson left?

I've seen the newer stuff shown on BBC America, but given MLB's presence that's to be expected perhaps.Ascender wrote: Fri Jun 14, 2019 11:19 am I think it was twitter where I saw someone asking just how much the missing steak has ended up costing the Beeb in the long run in terms of global revenue from the show and brand?

Looks like someone's been at it again:

Re: Top Gear
I get that they've changed the size of the presenters. I just don't get why.
