Dark colours help it no doubt. It seems wide as (now all Carreras are 4S width) it is wider!

Not sure about looking lower - 991.1 models onwards always look a lot taller across the rear but its not hugely apparent until you park it next to a 996/7. I think the whole back of the car just looks much fatter and actually makes the arches look narrower (as per the photos below)! It does look a bit different in the photo from above but you don't tend to look at it from that angle...

I'm sure I'll get used to it by the time they release the 998 or wherever they go to next with the numbering.

I think this makes it look uber wide though. From the straight ahead it reminds me of a 911 RSR.

Really does show how aesthetics are in the eye of the beholder doesn't it

Funny enough both SJ and I thought light colour suits it (the rear) better.

Seem a few 992 in the village now and I'm really not sure.

Obnoxiously loud pootling around and they make a horrible plastically noise from the engine when idling. (Inlet manifold or air pump ?)

Just seems very fake and affected.

I'm not a fan either. They've got the same loud farty sound at low revs that all the modern performance turbo engines have and the 992 apparently also pipes fake induction noise through the speakers too

A 996 C4S was parked up near me at the weekend and set off whilst I was walking by - they still have the best standard (well, standard sports exhaust) watercooled 911 sound this side of a GT3 in my opinion. Irritatingly better than the 997s

I’ve seen lots (I drive past a Porsche garage every day), but I haven’t heard one yet...

They sound the same as the 991.2 to all intents and purposes, i.e. low quality fart at low revs.

There are a few Giulia Quadrifoglios round my way and I must say they're particularly disappointing too. Thrrrp thrrrrrp thrrrrp... crack.

Then a Granturismo wailed past and all was alright with the world again.

To be fair, most 911s seem to be used as town cars and research has probably shown its what the new younger buyers want at the flick of the switch.

Tiptronic though 👎
I heard it running at Rownhams; or rather I barely heard it, it's very quiet. Wouldn't be surprised if it's completely stock.

I think somebody has spent a huge amount of money making a pretty car that's actually slower than the car it's based on.

It was a very good day out, I'll definitely try and get back again next year.

How much in the way of older stuff was there? It seemed like 90% watercooled / 10% aircooled but perhaps i'm getting the wrong impression?

There wasn't a huge amount of aircooled tbh. It felt - to me at least - very heavily 997 based.

A really good turnout by the 928 owners club, I've never seen so many 928s in one place. And a smattering of 924/944/968. I quite fancy a 944 or 968.

First time I sat in a 944, really nice and comfy, the driving position is pretty much spot on. Lovely.

Think you're forgetting that you've sat in a 944 S3 before mate!
